So my issue is that I have been monitoring up until now with Unitrunker, an awesome free software and two sdr’s. Just found out Unitrunker does not decode PII, thus my problem finding the dispatch transmissions. Posting in case others have been monitoring with Unitrunker.

Umm update your Unitrunker.
It doesn't decode voice...it decodes the control channel data and works on digital and phase 2 systems.

Isn’t the point to decode voice? Here is what the unitrunker website says about P2 “The program decodes P25 Phase 1 and ProVoice audio. It does not decode P25 Phase 2 audio.”
No. Unitrunker is designed to decode the control channel data. It's useful for figuring out frequencies, talkgroups, etc.
If you want to monitor voice traffic on the system, you need a digital trunking scanner (Phase 2 capable).

Have they turned down the alert tones on the auto dispatch some? The last time I was there it was still loud.

Correct. They have been digital for several months now, they are just going to turn off the old analog system.
Analog was still working as of this morning.
Howdy folks. Sorry, but the city's new system sounds like crap to me. It reminds me of 8 bit text to "speech" back in the early 80s. I feel sorry for the people who have to decipher that garbled, distorted mess all day. It must cause them a great deal of listener fatigue!
