It's all done on the TRBO system as far as I know.

i thought so i was kind of hopeing that they would do as same as ems and have just a simplex pageing freq that is just analog

If anyone is working on a TRBO scanner they are keeping it pretty hush hush. The demand is certainly getting greater though.

The only analog traffic you can receive from the Sarnia Fire system is the mobile repeater (150.395, 155.055) This system has gone through a lot of trial and error. TRBO is definately not meant for Fire dept use....Heard a LOT of firefighters are NOT happy with this system at all.
Maybe they will go back to edacs... or a P25 system and have sarnia police join in
Or maybe even go on fleetnet and have a few TG's for fire and a few for sarnia police.. since they are sorta kinda in the middle of point edward opp detach and the rest of lambton

or even do what middlesex is currently doing and set up an project 25 phase 1 trunking system like middlesex is working on and have sarnia fire police and county fire on one system
That's only for the city of London, not the county.
It had been discussed at great length last year about Sarnia Police being disbanded and the city going to OPP policing. Part of that discussion was how the communication end of things would be worked out, with the comms being on Fleetnet. Basically it boiled down to having their own talkgroup (but no encryption) or building a new Fleetnet site (ala Guelph) that would use encryption.
With all the focus on interop stuff these days, I'm not sure how they managed to convince them to use TRBO for fire. Some salesman did a good job, no doubt. Maybe the PD will drop their P25 system and go TRBO too.... nah, can't see that happening!
What police service would ever do that eh?

The city was supposed to go on the EDACS system for all departments....But as Forts said, some salesmen did his job very well. The county fire dept's use a different radio vendor (thank god)....so I think as long as they are with them they will stay on the EDACS system. Like I said, a lot of firefighters in the city are very unhappy with the radio system...guess it's gonna take someone to get hurt, or worse before they listen.

Sarnia Fire is not happy with the TRBO system. I was at station 1 last year, and there was a Motorola guy there, troubleshooting, and trying to repair the issue they were having. I don't know what type of issue, no one would say exactly, but I think comms were all broken up, and there was a lot of unnecessary squelching.
One thing I don't understand, is why Sarnia Fire, would go to TRBO! Do they not want people listening in on their activity? To be honest, it hasn't stopped me from my Fire Buffing there. I still get video, and pictures!
When Strathroy Police went TRBO, their big complaint was radios just plain stayed silent. You could have 2 radios side by side and when dispatch would key up one radio would unmute and work fine while the other one would sit there silently. I've heard this type of issue from others that work with TRBO too, and the solution is apparently to add more coverage. Strathroy-Caradoc now has 3 TRBO sites I believe. When the digital works, it does sound great... but that's the problem... when it works.

i just think trbo is just a waste of money they should of just stayed with thames edacs

I agree 100%. Well, for fire depts anyway. Police depts going with TRBO I can sorta understand, but it still doesn't make sense. Fire Depts on TRBO is just dumb, and yes, as you said, a waste of money. Not to mention there is nothing to listen to in Sarnia except EMS.
