I see a update to the Beckham Co page, Sayre PD 154.950. Does anyone have more info on that? is it a new system coming online or is it something else?. I've been monitoring that freq for 2 days with 0 transmissions.

Thanks

Sayre

Yeah, Jim, that was me.

I spent a week in Sayre last Wednesday :)

They use the frequency simplex (unless it is a repeater input). And I didn't hear it after I left downtown. You probably wouldn't hear the units from Elk City.

However, there wasn't much traffic on it all afternoon. Just a car that caught fire at a local hotel. I am certain that was who it was, because they called to "Sayre" and I saw a couple of the units go out at the Sheriff's office and call the dsipatcher to tell her where they were.

An interesting note, the dispatch replies were often very short. When Sayre Two called in that he was out of the car at the sheriff's office, she merely answered with his unit number: "Two." Nothing else.

There is no license for it, and 154.950MHz is a Texas car to car frequency, so although it seems somewhat unlikely, that's where they were.

Thanks, I hope you had a good time in Sayre. They must be running a low power system. I have them programmed in my radio here at work and with our 100' tower I can't hear them. Good info, did you happen to notice their pl tone?.

btw, Blane Co. SO seems to have changed pl to 114.8 on 158.775. Must have interference from R. Mills Fire on that same channel.

Still working on a photo of the PD units, it's hard to be inconspicuous :)

Why wouldn't that be likely? I would think all the agencies on the borders would have access to the other sides car-to-car freqs. I have seen the license for 155.37 (the Texas Intercity Base freq) licensed to some OK counties. That's what I'm calling interoperability! (not this-linking-across-multiple-vendor-platorms-so-someone-can-have-a-"cheaper"-system ;) ).

Most units west of Elk City use Shamrock's repeater for inter-state traffic, including THP to OHP. Beckham Co SO's repeater works quite a ways into TX as well.

Mark--

It's not that I'm surprised an Oklahoma police agency would be able to use a Texas mutual aid frequency. As you have stated, many of the bordering counties use these to communicate with their less fortunate bretheren (those not able to reside in the great state of Oklahoma ;)).

It is surprising to me that an Oklahoma Police Department just 20 miles from the border would set up their dispatch operations on a Texas car-to-car frequency. But I guess if it works for all parties involved...........
