Firmware 1.06.10 -- I have only one favorite list so far, St. Louis County's new P25 system. When scanner powers up, I get "Nothing to scan message." I have to through menus to un-avoid this system every time.
Ideas?

Are you using a startup configuration key ? Or just powering the unit up after it's been off for a while? If you are using a startup configuration number when you turn on your scanner, you may have programmed your favorite list through Sentinal to be avoided. Or perhaps you have it turned off in the Sentinal profile. This happened to me a few times.

On the other hand, if you are scanning the system and simply turn your unit off, and it becomes avoided on its own next time you power up without using a startup configuration key, I'll have to give that a little more thought. I haven't had my morning coffee yet.

If you manually select the favorite do you get the noting to scan?

If so, you probably have range issue, service type or created the list with no sites.

Make sure Location Control under the Favorites Option tab is turned off.

Your scanner might think it's somewhere else than it is or your favorites list doesn't have the right location or no location at all.

These are all very excellent suggestions. More important is not to get frustrated with the operation of your 536. I've had mine for just a little under a month, and I am continuing to learn all of its great capabilities. Notwithstanding some of the hardware issues mentioned in other threads, I believe that the 536 (and the portable 436) are the best, most versatile scanners ever produced. The do A LOT of neat things--- you have to be patient, keep referring to the instruction manual (which is admittedly somewhat lacking) and check the forums here for suggestions and input.

When you power it down, are you letting it write to the SD card before "removing" power from the unit? If so, it should power up in the exact same state it was in when you shut it off. If you are simply removing power, it will never be able to write the status, and you will have to set it each time (or at least power it off the correct way so it writes the info at least once).

The startup key makes the most sense but powering the scanner off should save the last configuration. You might need to go into sentinal and make sure the favorite is turned on with the check mark then resave it.

I went into Sentinel and the system was avoided, I cleared the avoid and reloaded the scanner. All is well now. MANY THANKS!!!!!
