There are probably hundreds of satisfied scanner operators out there but THIS one, is very dissatisfied.
I have spent over 5 hours trying to download a simple list of PD and FD frequencies to my scanner without having to manually install them until the sun never comes up again.
I printed PDF after PDF and listened to the audio from the Radio Reference site links on how to install the software over and over.
The only place I WAS able to get to, was the site that requires you to BUY this, and BUY that for the keys after purchase to activate the software. OH, THAT was easy !
Now that I have spent all that money and followed directions to download the software, other items come up on the screen like the news of the United States or where I can select and purchase scanners. This is followed by frustrating directions to 'buttons' that don't work until you subscribe to another link, or go here to find that, and if you want the other thing.
Too many acronyms. Latitude and longitude coordinates for the transmitter towers. Special codes necessary for Mororola. Happy face icons. Parsers, use this URL, "Talk groups", trunking codes, how many miles I want to scan.....these things I know nothing about or where to find them without spending the rest of my retirement on the computer.
All I wanted to do was put the frequency list of the Suffolk County Fire Department, the New York State PD and the New York City, and Nassau County PD from the listings in Radio Reference, into my scanner.
Simple.
Why isn't this as easy as installing a printer.....download the software, install it and then print.
Around and around I go, back to this and back to that, never getting to what I want !
Help on the phone is only Monday through Friday; today is Saturday.
Anybody out there with the know-how to program this scanner, willing to do it for me if I ship the scanner to them ???
Contact me on QRZ under w2wde.
The complicated directions, and 'if's, and's, and 'but's is driving me to the point of selling this scanner and forget about the whole thing !
I need a drink.
