Does anyone know if there is a scanner with i built in secrity system, sort of like a car stero or cell phone so if its stolen it wont operate without a passcode, My cell phone will only show a message that there is a reward if you call a # and return it. Thanks in advance for your help.

On some of the newer scanners, you can reprogram the welcome screen to display a custom message at power on. I have Radio Shack and GRE radios, and, based on another thread I read, I programmed my name, tel. number, and Ham license. I would hope any pawn shop or honest buyer would see that and make a phone call. I believe the BCT15, BCD996T, BCD396T, and others will allow you to do this. I think these rigs also allow passwords, you will need to read through the manuals. Check the wiki for additional info.

Some of the GRE scanners have a password you can set. Of course if you don't loose your scanner you don't need to worry
