Scanner static issues

I have a radio shack pro 2096 scanner. And now all the sudden it will randomly stop on a channel and it's nothing but static. Also after someone talkes on a station and the transmission cuts out, it will stay on that channel and again there is nothing but static, I do not have a delay set. Last week it worked A ok like it should, now it's goofing up. I also noticed that if I put the squelch all the way to max, this will somewhat stop the static issue. When the radio wad working fine, I had the squelch set just past where it stops hissing. Anyone know whqt could be causing this?

can a scanners squelch threshold change?

I've noticed that when I turn the squelch dial to the threshold (where it starts hissing) and turn in back away from the threshold, it keeps hissing until the dial is about 3/4 of the way to max, it usually stops hissing right as I pull away from threshold. this causes the radio to hiss and stay on a channel ones a voice stops I know this is not normal for the radio. is this a common quirk with scanners or is something wrong with my radio?

Have you added any new electronics in your residence or moved anything around?
I have a RS Pro 2021 and with the indoor antenna it would always stop on frequency 157.500 and be nothing but static. With a outdoor antenna, no static at all. Something indoors, possibly PC, or lights was always causing interference.

No tech here, just offering some suggestions.

I have a new tv, but the radio was goofing up before I bough it. can't think of any little things that we bought that may contribute. I have a realistic pro 2021 in my room as well and it doesn't haven't any static issues.

I have a new tv but the radios was acting up before hand. I have a realistic pro 2021 scanner in my room as well and it works just fine. I may post a new thread with a video better explaiming the situation, I have a hard time explaining stuff by text. so stay tuned if you think you can help.

YES unfortounatly (sp)..the SUN and atmosphere bending can and will raise your hair on the back of your neck on occasions as more equip becomes digital YOU WONT HEAR an audio output ITS digital lock up from the same intermod and add the sunspot cycle to it and soon you will be an engineering student or do what i do..get five or six scanner and just cycle and live with it..at roughly 1030 am est here they lock up in the spring and fall about 155.925..when i was a young man in the 1970s i would hear skip from the la county fire dispatch..the same as the television show every spring and fall..I LIVE IN CENTRAL new york on a hill..qrz hi hi hi 73's..rickk
