New ScannerBox version

ScannerBox version 1.16 is available.

The biggest change is a new menu that provide a direct way to add a feed to the favorites menu and more detailed feed information. The menu can be accessed by pressing the "More" button on the radio when viewing a list of feeds.
Version 1.16 also adds more detail to the error messages when there are problems downloading the list of feeds.

To upgrade go to ScannerBox.us and follow the instructions.

Hello:

The ScannerBox update version (1.16) does not appear as an install option under Applet Installer/ScannerBox. The only option is remove? I have been checking my Squeeze Box radio since the 2/22 announcement of the 1.1.6 version being available.

Is there an issue with the update?

1.16 showed up on mine under the remove version 1.15. I had to scroll down.

Make sure it's still in the additional repositories in the Squeezebox server.

Hi Dave:

All I have is the word "remove" as an option. There is no reference to 1.15 or 1.16. Just the word remove. ScannerBox is up & running and working fine (receiving streams).

Try restarting the Squeezebox server. I have noticed that some servers don't check for updates everyday.

Thanks guys. Dave's tip to look at the additional repositories did the trick. My url was gone and I just needed to re-apply it. ASfter that the install 1.16 option was there. Just updated thye squeezebox and all is well.

Not sure whats up with mine, since the update it stops audio after a while. As soon as I hit the shortcut button it starts the feed again.
Gonna try reconnecting to the squeezbox server after rebooting the server computer and see if that fixes it.

Haven't heard of any issues like that, normally disconnects are due to an issue with the feed or the internet connection the squeezebox is using. Is it one feed that disconnects or multiple? (What is the feed name so I can try it). Are you actually using the menus to connect or one of the buttons around the LCD screen?

Squeezebox software handles all the audio playback, make sure the squeezebox radio and server are using the newest version. 7.4.2 was just released.

Have not done enought homework to answer yet..... but I will get back on these questions.
The feed I am having issues with is:

Rutherford County Sheriff and Fire Live Scanner Audio Feed

I have a lot going on right now ...so I don't really know if it is the 1 I keep it on on any feed that stops feeding.
I did verify that when it is no longer running, that the connection is not there. By going into my feed page and checking connections before and after the SCREEN SHORTCUT button was pushed and instant feed was present.

Let me check the other stuff out & get back.

Both my feeds went goofy last night on all streams, then both went off line at 1am then back on at 03:00 and both are great now. I ASSuMEd it was RR maint, but it could have been my ISP.

I didn't make any changes, the audio playback is handled entirely outside of ScannerBox. Once you select a feed to start playing control is handed over to the Squeezebox software and ScannerBox no longer has control. I did do some research into seeing if there was anyway I could have the Squeezebox automatically reconnect to a feed when there is an issue. It doesn't look like Logitech offers any method to automatically reconnect.

If you have issues sending the feed to RadioReference the Squeezebox will more than likely have the same trouble since it's connecting to the same system.

I will do a little more testing of that particular feed to see if there is anything I can do on the ScannerBox side.

It was mentioned earlier in this thread but was wondering when Scannerbox would be updated to show up on the remote control on mysqueezebox.com.That way when my puter was on I could use the remote function to save some ware and tear on the radios buttons.

There currently isn't any plan to add remote control abilities on the Squeezebox server. To create the remote control feature would require creating a completely new plug-in for the Squeezebox server. The server and radio use completely different programing languages so I wouldn't be able to reuse any code.

I am not ruling it out, it may be possible in the future. The Logitech environment is fairly limited when compared to the iPhone or Android systems, almost nothing is documented.

Logitech update

Logitech just released a brand new firmware (7.6) and server software. ScannerBox was restricted to the 7.5 version so that is why it wouldn't show up after you upgraded.

Now that the final version of 7.6 is out I was able to finish testing ScannerBox against it and everything is working.

I have made an update that will allow ScannerBox to work with both 7.5 and 7.6 firmware.

Once your Squeezebox Server does an update check (can take up to 24 hours) ScannerBox should be available for install.
