It's the multi talented UK guy Steve Holloway who develops it so I have the highest confidence in his work and that it will turn out to be a super product in its operation and features. I like the idea of listening to two scanners at the same time and be able to quickly switch the display between the two.

It could have used two or more USB ports and used an electronic switch inside so that each port could be configured for a specific scanner model to instantly switch the display setup to that model. But perhaps a simple external box with a $10 processor, RPi or Arduino, can be used to convert serial data to USB to allow two USB scanners to be used.

It will cost less than a SDS200 so probably something like $499 and Holloway probably gets a percentage of each device sold so the firmware will be constantly improved to support more scanner models and its features and functions improved over time to attract more people.

I fear at this point they will outprice themselves and it will only sell a few due to the cost, assuming it's released at all. .

If it's too much over $250, i'm out.
Got some saying it should cost the same or more than an SDS200 😂 That would be absurd. I'd buy another SDS200 before I paid close to or more than the cost of one for a display.
Though the SDS200 display is lacking in the brightness area

Another consideration is that Uniden could make the successor to the SDS-200 with a detachable head.

They could, but it's more likely that it will be compatible with U/Aware.
Also there was an independently produced remote head that fell out of availability after COVID. I think the cost for that was about $300.00 when it was available.

There appears to be an effort to build something similar, but no cost is available right now.

There are those that said a thousand dollar scanner would not sell, owing to the amount of encryption that is sweeping the nation. If this forum is any indication, the newly-released SDS150 is flying off the shelves. I bought one. I have a 396, 436, SDS100 with the Wienke internal GPS and now the SDS150. (In the interest of transparency, I'm considering thinning the herd.) It's like an alcoholic and his liquor: If he wants it, he'll find a way to buy it.

I am not saying it won't sell at all, I'm just saying their sales will be much less if they overprice it vs if they keep it reasonable. Basic business. But, time will tell. If it's ever released.

I hope they do release the RH-200 and it does well in the marketplace. Ditto for the SDS-150. This not exactly a growing hobby and we'll be in trouble if companies like Uniden no longer consider it viable.

A new, updated scanner, V/S an accessory from a 3rd party, is hardly a proper comparison.

With tariffs still in effect it would be logical to postpone the release date and wait for a while. Apple seems to have gotten a deal with Trump to get lower tariffs for their products. With Trump behind the wheel he decides one thing one week and a totally opposite thing the next week that creates a turbulent market when no one knows what's going to happen and development and progress are then halted.

Scanner Master has been working diligently on development of the RH-200, a remote control and display unit for many Uniden scanners over the last 2 years. While several working prototypes have successfully been built, it has been found that production of retail units would be cost-prohibitive for both the company and the consumer.

We regret that we are unable to bring this project to market at this time and remain committed to bringing the scanner community the products and support that Scanner Master has been famous for. Should circumstances allow the RH-200 to be produced for retail we will of course announce it here.

We appreciate the support and encouragement of the scanner community during the development of this project.

Sincerely,

The Scanner Master RH-200 Development Team:
