EXACTLY what I heard when I bought my first shortwave radio. LOL! I have to wonder if Seth MacFarlane's dad is/was a ham radio operator or something. To ChatGPT I go...

Edit-

HAHAHA How be...

ChatGPT said:
Yes, Seth MacFarlane's father, Ronald Milton MacFarlane, was indeed a ham radio operator. Ronald was an educator and a voice actor who inspired Seth's interest in animation and comedy. Growing up, Seth spent a lot of time with his father, who encouraged his creativity and introduced him to various forms of entertainment, including classic movies and radio shows. Ronald's involvement in ham radio likely influenced Seth's portrayal of the character "Seamus Levine" in the animated series "Family Guy," who is also a ham radio enthusiast.

Shamefully, I have yet to watch this show. I simply don't want much TV anymore let alone the news either. Sounds like a very good show though and to read many of the TV crew were inspired to get their license is interesting.

Should you ever work him you'll get a different name back when you look him up. Tim Allen is his stage name. Timothy Dick is his real name.

According to the article he's only got a Technician class license. So, unless he knows CW I doubt I'll hear him. ;)

Yes, but the range is not as promising.

I mean, something like 80 meters or even 20 meters would fair better, you know?

I thought I've heard Mike Judge on CB.
There was an interview or something where he said he got a lot of his character voices just from messing with people on CB.

I was watching the macgyver and an unmarked unit turned his PA knob on the bottom, flipped a light switch in the middle, and then beeped a few scanner buttons to contact an interagency dispatch system he called CLAYMORS, RivertonPD TO MetroPD. (s04e13)

I noticed another interesting look base on the desk. Kind of reminds me of the old analog trunking 800 radios.

i said it looked like a bent upside down T.

One thing I always liked in the earlier MacGyver seasons was their use of the radio CB handhelds with the nice 5 foot telescopic. Though the characters rarely ever extended the antennas much while pretending to use them.celluloid-shot0011.jpg

That looks like the same model of CB I have, and if I'm not mistaken was the same model used in Stranger Things. So I've heard. I have yet to watch the show. I don't watch too many TV shows and movies. Only stuff that really peaks my interest. Heck, I started watching Falling Skies years ago and stopped watching it toward season 3 I think it was. I need to pick that back up again. LOL

I saw a Pro-2036 on an episode of Monk (Season 2 Missing Granny) as the so called "phone trace" that for whatever fantasy reason takes 45 seconds even though telecom companies would know instantly where a call came from. :ROFLMAO:

Every time I see Tony Shalhoub I think of that awesome X-Files episode where his character was like a walking nuclear reactor or something like that. The ending was - well to me quite sad... as the camera pulled away and a tear streamed down his character's face.

Even Giovanni Ribisi who was the medic in Saving Private Ryan was in the X-Files with Jack Black if I'm not mistaken. That was an AWESOME episode and he did a hell of a good job, let me tell you.

I caught this on an episode of The Sopranos on HBO. It was season 2, episode 7, "D-Girl", a shot of the inside of the FBI surveillance van shows a Bearcat 300 scanner in the rack.
