I have seen that also on Chicago Fire and probably the same radio (Whistler 1065 or Radio Shack Pro 652/197) in an office on 911 Lonestar. On Chicago Fire, there seem's to be what look's like a cheaper Whistler scanner on the desk in the house watch area. No closeup's.

I know but the first post was a transceiver even though the title states Scanners on TV. I've seen scanners on many shows during the 70's & 80's. Some used scanners like they were transceivers. I always look for transceivers and scanners in the background of the old shows. The Highway Patrol series from the 50's showed the power of two-way radio in law enforcement. They were using the 43-50 MHz range back then. Dragnet from the 60's was a good show that emphasized the police radio too. Rockford always had a scanner running in the background. I got my first scanner in 1970 and then started seeing them on television shows during the 70's.No scanners on "The Munsters" - an amateur radio, yes.
I can still hear Broderick Crawford saying, "2150 to headquarters." In one of the CHiPs shows, Broderick Crawford was pulled over to be given a ticket and the officers went mad when they saw who it was.The Highway Patrol series from the 50's showed the power of two-way radio in law enforcement.
My uncle freelanced with Weegee and when Weegee got married and stopped working nights chasing murders he gave my uncle his police radio and permit to operate a mobile police receiver. They were roommates at Center Market Place, opposite the driveway where the crime scene cars left NYPD HQ and Weegee followed them.Yes they are (were). I teach photojournalism and one of my favorites from yesteryear (way before my time) was "Weegee", a New York photographer in the 1930-40's. Joe Pesci portrayed a character loosely based on Weegee in the film, The Public Eye.

If you are speaking of the PRO-30, I still have one. It has a direct entry keypad and covers 30-54, 108-136, 138-174, and 380-512. It is very large and heavy and requires 6 AA batteries.Lethal Weapon 3 Leo has a Scanner, believe it was a realistic 16 channel handheld i had one
Very cool! Weegee was considered one of the first (if not the first) street photographer to use a mobile police radio. My uncle freelanced with Weegee and when Weegee got married and stopped working nights chasing murders he gave my uncle his police radio and permit to operate a mobile police receiver.
