Planning my trip from the Northeast to Florida. After coming over the Delaware Memorial Bridge from Jersey, can anyone give me some information on what to scan until I reach Virginina. I'm mostly interested in the State Police along I-95.

Looking at the map, it appears New Castle County is the only county I would need to monitor. Which site ID's should I add...001, 102 and 103 ? Or should I add the others for better coverage. I'm using a PSR-500 with the roam feature.

And anything other the the standard New Castle SP and New Castle County PD/Fire TG's?

Site 001 should be sufficient. There are towers in the area that should provide coverage from Salem County, NJ well into Maryland (tower at the DE/MD toll plaza). As talk groups, any with the designation of N- or SW of interest would be good. Don"t forget N-DRBA ENF and N-DRBA Tac1(Delaware Memorial Bridge Police).

Actually I have found that site1 doesn't cover that area all that well; I'm using a 396 with a Spectra, and reception/decoding is very spotty until you get around the split where you choose to either go to Pa or toward the Memorial Bridge. That's coming North, of course. 73 Mike

All good information. Don't forget the DRBA Police TG 6032.
Anyhow, once you ge to the MD line you can tune into possibly the worst sounding repeaters known to man.

151.040 carries the police traffic down to MM 75 or so just north of Balto. It repeats the MSP/JFK Highway channel ( Check the dB as I for get the freq but it's 39Mhz)

Once you get to Baltimore / I695 you'll have to put in the MSP low band channels.

egod 911,

Here is some info or your I-95 travel thru Maryland. Maryland State Police JFK Highway (MSP) 39.240 PL 127.3 and 151.040 (simulcast but sounds horrible) cover I-95 from exit 109 to exit 64 (Baltimore Beltway). Then the Maryland Transportation Authority covers from Exit 64 thru exit 49 they are on 453.100 PL 127.3, from exit 49 to MM 46 it is MSP Golden Ring 39.440 PL 110.9, then from MM 46 to the Prince Georges County line it is MSP Waterloo 39.420 PL 110.9 from there it goes to MSP College Park on 39.360 which will take you all they way to the VA State Line.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys for the quick responses. I'm all programmed up and ready to go !

Audiodave1 and Dispatcher308...thanks for the Maryland stuff as well. Saved me from having to post in another forum.

Maryland Transportation Authority covers from Exit 64 thru exit 49...

I did not know that MTA covered any portion of I-95. I heard they were a pretty nice agency to work for and had alot of authority. Last time I was in Baltimore, I had to stop at the seaport and saw MTA PD patrolling.
