I'm in SW Ontario and was getting marine traffic on 1541.447. Been about 6 months since I've worked the sats.

I gave up on decoding inmarsat I have to stick the antenna out my bedroom window to face south to do that I have to take the screen off the window and put the antenna on a long stick to get any reception and then only get 6 aero frequencies, 5 600bps and 1 1200 bps. Cant leave the screen off the window bugs and spiders come into the bedroom, also have the air conditioner on. And in the winter I can not leave the window open. Never got any signals that I can think of for the marine decoding and that was what I really wanted, so unless I move in the future I don't think I will be decoding inmarsat. But thank you for your help and also all the others out there that took the time to help.

No Problem. Fully understand and thanks for the update.
I know its not the same as doing it yourself, but all those frequencies are live on my site and you can view them live and search the aircraft messages for the past 48 hours. At the moment the marine decoding is live. I'm trying to give that page some love and perhaps its own database that users can search but I am unsure what marine centric users are looking to search etc....so any and all input is really appreciated.
Thanks again for letting us know were you are at with the project.

Recently there was a mention in the develop tab of 04 august 2022 "changes to decoder" directory "ScytaleC" and "ScytaleC.Decoder". I have questions if there will be a downloadable exe version on the site and if it is known what exactly has changed, does it show any additional information ?

I have been on a business trip, the past 2 weeks, home now. Will take a look and see what I can find out.
Have started fleshing out an STDC page on my GitHub, so this is good timing.
There is also a new STDC decoder for SDR++ that looks very interesting that I need to check out as well.

I thought they introduced some new options for displaying messages because a lot of the messages sent there are not supported by the decoder and it does not display them.

Here is the list of KNOWN working frequencies that SCYTALE-C can 100% decode.

AOR-W: 1537.70 MHz

IOR: 1537.10 MHz

AOR-E: 1541.45 MHz

POR: 1541.45 MHz

The are all 100% good and data streaming to my and many other websites.
Is it the case that SCYTALE-C can decode only some of the INMARSAT frequencies that Jaero can decode? If so, what causes this limitation?

Nothing to do with the frequency per se - they decode different things.
jaero is used by some to decode aero data whereas scytale-c is used for decoding maritime STD-C data

Are there open source applications that decode both ACARS aero and STD-C? Or plugins for SDR# that decode aero? Thanks

'both' - not that I remember seeing but if there is it has likley been convered by a thread on RR several times so be sure to use the bulletin board search.

sdrsharp plugin for ACARS variants...never looked, rarely find sdrsharp the best way to do anything

HI all, just trying to get Scytale working, I am down in Melbourne, Australia. The PC is running Win 8 with sdr-sharp with a RTL-SDR V3 and a patch antenna

If I run SDRconsole and Jaero, I have no issues seeing the satellite signals and have had great success decoding ACARS.

However sdr-sharp cannot see the satellite signals, I gather there are some software settings to change. Any pointers or youtube videos would be greatly appreciated

Multipsk will decode both but the best programs for both only will do that type. Jaero for aero and
Tuning in some programs can be difficu.t In Jaero, it is easy and that free program is the very best. I find Stdc best for INMARSAT-C but it is not free but worth it. To help tune, I send the virtual audio both to the program and to the sound program Argo where I can see more closely where I have tune.

There is a way to activate the biastee you'll ha e to do some digging but it's a separate bat file you'll have to setup but it's simple. Just Google and you'll find it. You run that bat file before you startup sdr# and when you start it you'll have signals
