Windows 10 installed some updates the other day and I haven't used SDR# until today. When I try to open the program I receive the following error message "paUnanticipatedHostError" anyone have an idea what the problem might be?

Likely Windows overwrote something. Try a reinstall of SDR#.

After much research on line and trying several suggestions, I reinstalled the audio drivers and all is well. Of course, that was the last suggestion I found after attempting many others! I would still be curious if anyone else experienced this following a Win10 update. The update came the other say in the midst of holiday preparations so I wasn't paying much attention to what was going on although, even if i had, I doubt i would have noticed anything that would have caused this problem.

Windows 10 is quickly shaping up to be the worst Windows version ever. Microsoft is making too many assumptions that programs you installed are not correctly installed, and they break them. They also have no problem with several extreme security vulnerabilities, and keep exposing your security settings after you fix them. In addition, they tend to overwrite drivers with what they feel you should be using - even if those drivers are wrong. I believe that is the issue you discovered.
