Hello,

Would like to use SDR++ on my Mac.
Have downloaded the complete (I think) package from GitHub, but there
is no "simple" installer.

Will blame it on old age, but I am completely lost as to
how to install it.

Anyone using ?

Would be willing to walk me thru (probably off-line best) the steps ?
Would be most appreciative.

Thanks,
Bob

Yeah, even I was confused the first time I went to find it. If you go to sdrpp.org and click on nightly builds (recommended) then scroll down to the bottom of the next page and you'll see the nightly build binaries. Here's a direct link (assuming you want Windows)

or you can just go here, click Nightly Build, and scroll down to the bottom of the page for other package types (Mac, Linux) if you don't want to build it yourself (it takes quite a while to build from scratch, speaking from experience)

Download to Windows was quick and easy...no installer just create shortcut to application...But
screen is mostly blacked out except upper VFO line...line is functional but rest of screen is almost totally black

Which version did you download? Should be on the top title bar. I know the older version 1.04 had an OpenGL issue where users were hard required to have a high enough version of OpenGL (a.k.a., you can't have an old potato computer) but I was kind of under the impression that the dev fixed that to a lower OpenGL or something, not entirely sure. It was discussed here in an older thread.

Did you try to click on the link for 'sdrpp_windows_x64', I just did and it worked for me.

Link listing did not act as though it was "live"...all black unlike most that have blue highlight
I clicked all over the box and text...
Thanks

You have to be signed in to Github to download the nightly builds

Oh, that would explain it. Just tried in incognito mode and verified this. Also tried copy and paste of the direct link into incognito mode and had a 404 error, so you do indeed need to be logged in. What a hassle.

So, here is the latest version uploaded to ufile instead, for those who don't want to make a github account for just one thing.

SO...I signed in to github, downloaded and unzipped the nightly build file to my PC, created new shortcut.
When I click on the shortcut the SDR++ UI flashes on my screen and disappears.

Right click on the short-cut you made to the desktop, and add the -c option to the end of it to force it to open in a console with verbose output. See what all errors occur.

I'm still willing to guess its probably OpenGL related.

Tried it...it slowed the "flash "down" but still too fast to read the window...
Appreciate your help but I really don't need this app as others I use (see signature) work well,
BUT I am always open to trying something new.

I first loaded and ran version 1.0.4 which does not have a check box for squelch.
The screen resolution on my surface pro makes it difficult to see the squelch checkbox on version 1.1.0
Not sure why you would need to select squelch operation but it works now.
Thanks for your help...
