Curious what the orange wire is for on the power cable. I could not find any reference to it in the manual that comes with the scanner. I'm hoping for ignition sense as I would like to connect it that way but I doubt if I will be that lucky.

This is from page 17 in the owner's manual that comes with the scanner....

Connecting DC Cable with Orange Wire
Connect this cable to the vehicle’s electric system that receives power when you turn on your
headlights. Now your scanner’s display will automatically dim when you turn on the headlights.

You sure about that?

Yes
Page 17 in my printed SDS200 manual describes understanding location, range and services.

What's the copyright date of the front page of your manual? Mine says 2018.

EDIT... I looked through my SDS200 boxes and found a manual with a 2019 copyright date... and it's not listed in that one at all!
Your page #17 is page #22 in the 2018 manual.

My apologies to the OP, he must have a newer manual as well that doesn't give any info on the orange cable.

It is for dimming the display when you turn on your headlights. It gets connected to the output of your headlight switch, or... If you can run a wire out to either headlight POSITIVE wire so it gets +12v when your headlights are turned on.

OR

just push in on the on-off/volume switch to cycle the radio's display it cycles from off to low to medium to high and then repeats that.

Good question..

The 2019 manual has "Mobile power harness" only listed under what comes in the box. Zero instructions on how to wire it via the harness (or DC adapter) or how to mount the radio, etc.
