Instead of rolling back . How about Uniden fixes the issues uniden has caused because of firmware updates ? This scanner has been released now a few years . for Uniden to release firmware that causes problems for the consumer having the time now to provide issue free firmware is absolutely ridiculous. Uniden needs to fix any issues . Rolling back ? Heck no this is on Uniden
Should they fix them yesterday?

I am guessing you never worked in software development or QA.

Uniden DOES QA software/firmware. Once they think it's right, they give it to software beta testers and then to a group of volunteers who have asked to be able to test the firmware. Way back in the 2000's I did some of that for UPMan (may he rest in peace).

That all takes time and obviously, those testers can't test EVERY system that's on the air.

To be honest, this latest tweak to the firmware and the problems some are experiencing prove that firmware needs to be FULLY tested before release even if for simple things. This latest tweak was issued in 5 days, with holidays and a weekend in those 5 days.

Some folks were begging for the fix, since someone thought it would be a very simple fix.. It wasn't properly tested (apparently) and some are having difficulty and many aren't.

So... What do you want Uniden to do, slam it out, or test it? Knowing that nothing is perfect.

Exactly what I want …

Maybe try different end code settings and see if it makes a difference.
After a day of testing, nothing is fixing the decode errors of the digital talkgroups of a Type II system. I've tried all combinations of end code settings, filters, squelch, attenuator on/off, nothing. Thank you for all of the help and suggestions, I guess rolling back the firmware is the only option until Uniden addresses this.

I'm getting a strange squelch noise listening to the Atlanta system now. it's almost like back in the day opening the squelch all the way on an analog channel. it's intermittent but pretty annoying

So I only got files for the SDS-100. Couldn't get it to start updating until I changes the name from SDS-100 to SDS200 (no dash). BUT, getting a checksum error. So it appears you need specific firm and bin files for the 100 and 200, they are not universal unless someone has figured out a way.

Anyone got SDS-200 ones ?

Much improved reception on the Oakland County Simulcast here in southeast Michigan. Before the update I wasn't hearing anything, after Loud and Clear!
What is your filter (or global filter) set to?

How can you roll back ? Having the same problem you are having. Wish I could at least roll back to the one before 1.23.03. I think it was 1.23.01. Just to try it. 1.23.03 made the unit just about death . Strong Bars , High RSSI . Work a lot better before the update.

I rolled my two SDS200s and SDS100 back to ver 1.21 and sub 1.02.01 and that fixed the Smartxxx problems. However, as expected I lost the waterfall function. Hopefully Uniden will have a fix for this soon.

100 & 200 have always been separate.

Latest SDS100 firmware update through Sentinel resulted in a 50% reduction in receive sensitivity , and resulted in NO reception of some 700/800 P25 Trunk systems and Motorla Type II systems that previously were strong or moderate

I know there is a manual rollback, that does not include the Waterfall option.

Does anyone know if Uniden plans on a new firmware update fix through Sentinel that will result in restoring the previous good performance as well as the waterfall option?

Might want to look here. 2 beta releases since public release and many of us have noticed significant improvements.

I could be wrong but I believe those new releases do not include the waterfall option but they do address the poor receive situation... Is that correct?

Just to throw in my $10. I think we all should be happy Uniden is finally working on updating the firmware. We all know that there will be teething problems with it. As donc13 said
testers can't test EVERY system that's on the air.
this is very true especially with some systems being customized for that particular services needs.

If we want to help and do not have test equipment/logger capabilities the best thing is to provide even basic info on the changes in reception seen on the local system (not complain).

If we support the ongoing work then Uniden will remain motivated to keep improving and adding to it. It is obvious Uniden is listening. They have made a huge concession to everyone. They released a roll back capability so anyone with issues can choose to go back to what they had before and then wait for somethig more stable. I applaud Uniden's doing this it is a huge step forward in customer support.
