I'm having a hard time hearing my scanner in my pickup while driving. I have it mounted in a Lido cup holder mount. Distance is perfect but volume and clarity is the problem for my 59 year old ears. And yes I have it cranked up high. Can yall recommend a decent earpiece to try?
I didnt think a handheld unit could drive a external speaker, even if it did it wouldnt be any closer to me.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Anyway to get the 1/8" audio out into your truck stereo system? I'm fortunate to have an Aux-In to my truck audio and I can play the scanner over my factory system. That was the only way I could hear it well enough.

The intenal speaker seems to increase noise and distorsion. Even when having it standing on my desk it's hard to hear voices. The earphone jack can supply plenty of power. I use a 2 ohm speaker with great audio quality and sound preassure. Best thing would be if you could bring your scanner to a place that sells speakers and try it out. Check how much volume you can get without distorsion.

Speakers have different sensitivity, how much sound volume they give at a certain input power level, and some speakers bottom out too easily at high volumes. If you enter a frequency by Channel+frequency+Channel you can set squelch to 0 and listen to the white noise. You can then easily hear the different frequency response from speakers when you compare. But best thing are to compare with a recording you have made of a difficult to hear voice and play that same recording to each speaker during tests.

I was wanting to pipe this into my truck system. I have a new Ranger and they dont have a 1/8" audio input like the older ones.
I've seen a few Bluetooth gadgets that plug into 1/8" . Maybe the Trucks system would pair with it. I just dont know.
Those devices on Amazon dont have good reviews and have poor battery life

Does your truck have a center console? Look inside it, (I don't have a ranger) that's where mine is...

If it doesn’t have a 1/8” audio input, what audio inputs does it have? And are there adapters that will allow for your 1/8” plug? Agreed, battery operated Bluetooth adapters aren’t all that great... but what about one that runs on 12 volt DC? And any Bluetooth input will automatically conform to your Ranger’s sound system-when your cell phone has an incoming call the audio from your scanner is muted if you choose that option.
