Hi All.

I just received my new SDS100 and am wanting to do some programming and downloading from the RR database.

I have purchased a license key for: Arc536Pro, PSREdit500 and Proscan.

I also have to download "FreeScan", as I think it a free program that I can use for downloading from RR.

But is that it as far as programming software that will work with the SDS100, or are there more?

I initially thought I could download from the RR database using "Sentinal" but could not see any way to do it. (I am a Premium member of RR.)

Thanks for any assistance.

The short version is, Sentinel is your best bet. With Sentinel, look at the Menu bar top of the page. Click on Update - Update Master Database. Now look below the Menu Bar and the Icon Bar. You will see + Database. Click on the + (plus sign), you will see USA. Click on the + sign to see all of the States listed. Select your State and keep going to find what you are looking for.

Make sure you have the current version of Sentinel, it should be 2.00 (Revision 10).

FYI, PSREdit500 is for use with several Whistler/GRE scanners. It's not designed to work with Uniden scanners.

Thanks budevans.

I couldn't figure out how to download the specific area frequencies I wanted. I'll follow your instructions.

Thanks again.

Freescan won't work with the SDS either. Although I highly recommend Proscan, learn to use Sentinel first. I still use Sentinel for 99% of my programming, though I do use Proscan for monitoring and some special programming issues, and on other non-DMA scanners.

Kind of like buying a Ferrari to take Driver's Ed.

ARC536Pro is a great program for building your own favorites, and then uploading them to the scanner. It works perfectly with RadioReference.com. I use it with my BCD536HP, BCD436HP and my SDS100. I just keep separate profile files for each scanner so I don't mess up any specific favorites, or settings.

Thanks All.

I seem to be struggling just trying to load my local departments into a favorites list.

I didn't have these difficulties with my 436, just the SDS100.

I am going to read over "Mark's" easy to use scanner guide and hope I get out of this brain fog.

What is the issue? If the 436 list works why not load it into the 436 (just change target type)? Other than the fact that the SDS can recognize NAC there is nothing different between the 2.

I just haven't figured out how to actually "Load" the Department/Frequency selections into the SDS100.

I have found a Video on Youtube from Bearcat Warehouse that seems to have some explicit instructions.

I also need to dig out my 436 and try to clone it into the SDS100 since the settings I need are in it.

Don't you have your 436 file saved in Sentinel?

Not yet. But I'll just download it when I get my hands on my 436.

Thanks for the help.

Success. I have finally managed to load items from the Master Database to a Favorites list I created on the SDS100.

That's a milestone. Now to fine tune things.

I can't imagine having to program the radio using just the radio controls and not having Sentinel to do it.
