This thread is about programming the SDS100 for Utah Communications Authority
Motorola type 2 system currently in use. Screenshots of Sentinel

1. common sense, you need to select, in-order, USA > Utah > (your county) > Statewide systems >
Utah Communications Authority > (your desired Department)

2. So, my first Department is Bountiful. it has 7 channels, and I avoid the Public Works and Street Depts.
Go back to the left where you see the list of Departments. Right click on Bountiful and select
Append to Favorites List. Choose a favorites list or create a new one.

3. After you append to the favorites list, That favorites list will show with
all of the Departments in the list followed by all of the UCA trunked sites.
You will need to AVOID all sites except those sites local to your departments.
If you fail to AVOID the excess sites, the scanner will scan every site that
isn't avoided. That is a lot of dead air time.

Adding the Davis County department.
Avoids: Animal Control, Public Works, Court, Service, Training, & Jail.
To the best of my knowledge, the emergency channel has no talk.
It only sends out an alert tone from a user's radio. So I avoid it also.

Before I continue, you need to know this:
After you append a Department to a favorites list,
you need to scroll all the way up where the departments begin
under Utah Communications Authority.
Utah Highway Patrol for Davis.

Weber County
I chose the UHP Department. I set avoid for Davis UHP Car, and cleared avoid for
UHP Weber and UHP North. Next, I appended to favorites, and created a new favorites list
WEBER CO. After appending, look at the result. all of the UCA sites are enabled (in black)
So all excess sites will need to be avoided.

You must ENABLE Service Types on the SDS100 & 200

On page 20 of the SDS100 Owner's Manual, there is this statement:
SELECTING SERVICE TYPES
By default only EMS Dispatch, Fire Dispatch. Law Dispatch, Custom 1, and Multi-Dispatch are enabled.
So, I opened Sentinel, clicked Edit Profile > Service Types, and unchecked everything except Law Dispatch.
I saved, connected the cable to the scanner and wrote to scanner.

Playing the SDS100 next to the WS1040, this was my observation:
On the SDS100, only the Law Dispatch channels played.
On the WS1040, All police, fire, & EMS channels played.

CONCLUSION:
You will miss out on a lot of interesting comms if you fail to ENABLE

Sorry, I was editing the last post when I got interrupted by family matters.
CONCLUSION:
You will miss out on a lot of interesting comms if you fail to ENABLE the other service types.
EMS Tac, EMS Talk, Fire Tac, Fire Talk, Interop, Law Tac, Law Talk, Multi Tac, Multi Talk, Government,
and any other service types that you may desire.
Whether you program by Sentinel, ProScan, or keypad, you need to enable all desirable service types.

Adding channels to SDS100 and Renaming channels
This is what the attached pics show:
Sentinel12,
I found that if you rename anything, the HPDB will regenerate the original channel name and Service Type.
So, I avoided Granite Dist 3 [Schools] and SLSO Spec Ops.
In Sentinel 13, I entered these two channels with changes.
SLSO Spec Ops is actually UPD SWAT. This was revealed long ago from a mapped SLCO radio.
Granite Dist 3 is actually Granite PD 3 a Police Talk channel.
I also added the real UPD SOPS NL, and Granite PD 2 NL channels. NL = Not Listed.
So all these channels now display properly.
In the Image Sentinel 14, I added U of U PD 2 NL. This is an active PD Channel that has never been added to RRDB.
