Thank you everyone.
Buying used is not something I will do; possibly purchasing someone elses problem.
I will take time to read about the 325P2.
Take care,
Kevin
The 325P2 is a good scanner, but sometimes not if your area is simulcast. Simulcast is extremely location specific. If you are in the right location, you might have no issues on a simulcast system. But you are just as likely to have such problems your system pretty much unreadable.

Besides the SDS100 as one simulcast solution, you could use one of the Unication pagers. But that limits the number of systems you can monitor at one time. Another option is the Blue Tail receiver. However, it's designed for P25 trunked systems. Conventional channels are not in it's playbook. I believe, though, that DMR support may have been added. There is a lengthy thread discussing this receiver.

Uni G4/5 vice SDS100 Programming Question - Can I load several 700-800mhz trunked simulcast systems on the G4/5? BUT only listen to one system at a time? On the SDS100 I will not listen to any conventional, I have the BCD996P2 to do that, so is it kind of pointless to go with the SDS100? I posted this in the Uni Forum as well.

I thought Jon wrote up a nice summary of current state of Unication's G4/G5 radios here.

Your Mileage May Vary !

Hello Blackbelter:
Thank you!
My screen name suits me very well; not just about technology but the way technology has change routine communications. When my kids text me I need the NSA (National Security Agency) to decipher for me!

During this wonderful holiday season, it is appropriate for me to say; I’m not the brightest bulb on the tree!
Take care,
Kevin

The only thing that bothers me about the SDS100 is with what these units sell for, and the electronics packed into them to do everything they are capable of, they seem very fragile to me.

I don't let it out of my sight, and I stash it away when it's not in use. I'd feel much more at ease if I could either get it setup the way I want it, put it somewhere where nobody will handle it, and leave it powered up all the time, or if there were a thick heavy rubber case for it to protect it.

This is why I previously stated I wish it had a built in Bluetooth transmitter. I could get it setup the way I want and leave it powered on all the time and Bluetooth the audio to one of those cheap Bluetooth speakers that I can adjust the volume on. I do have a Bluetooth transmitter that I got from Amazon and I may very well use it for sending audio from this scanner to a speaker.

Environment has nothing to do with it, while being fragile and replacement cost do.
I'm not talking weather. I'm talking mostly about the people that you have to be hands-on 24 hours a day.

I think apart from the battery latch its made well enough to handle every day usage. It rides on the seat or in the glovebox as I drive.. I am going to try the bluetooth dongle to the audio jack on the headset for a wireless connection to my car stereo.

Sounds like you've got it under control.

Suggestion: Check with Jonweinke about his carbon fibre latches. They're outstanding and will handle large or small battery covers.

That is correct as the pagers exist now.
