Anyone notice that the scroll knob on their SDS100 has started to become inconsistent with respect to its function. Whereas before, the "scroll knob action" seemed to be always "tight", i've started to notice some "looseness" in its behavior.

I'm not sure whether this is due to some hysteresis in the system or represents a developing mechanical failure of the knob itself.

I’ve noticed the same after a couple of weeks use. I’m hoping the knob doesn’t just fall off. It’s definitely not as crisp or firm when it was completely new.

I never understood why Uniden decided to use a mechanical rotary knob for functions instead of the keypad exactly for this reason. They wear out much quicker.

One thing to avoid is rapid twisting of the encoder shaft. I know it's tempting but the more you crank that knob quickly, the fast trouble will happen (logically speaking - I don't have the radio to say for sure but I've had plenty of devices with rotary encoder shafts that this held true for.
