I have been adding more and tin foil and the HUM goes away and then comes back. I have to keep squeezing the whole out case of the radio where the Uniden Part has been placed to make some of the horrible noise to go away for the time being. Eventually the noise keeps coming back at a louder HUM. Then I squeeze the outer shell and then the HUM noise quiets down.

This is the process I keep doing since I bought a 700.00 dollar scanner radio from Uniden.

There's nothing in a scanner that can create mechanical vibrations, except the speaker.
If you have a computer or other device with a fan and it stands on the same table or surface then it could be that external device creating vibrations. I have a refrigeator that transfers vibrations through the floor to a cabinette 3 meters away that starts to give out vibtation sounds.

I think somebody needs to sell his SDS before he gives himself an aneurysm. Clearly he is intolerant of any noise emanating from his radio, and it is also clear that Uniden is not going to recall the affected units, because frankly, the mitigations work good enough for most people - including myself. It's getting to be a bit tiresome to be subjected to periodic rants - it borders on the T word.

Their is a recall though...send it in and Uniden Techs will put the part in for you... Keep squeezing your scanner like Mr. Whipple squeezed his Charmin and your bound to hear a crack or snap one day and the "uh oh" moment will occur. The issue was addressed in the sticky and UPMan is a tad busy these days if you read his blog.

I should read his blog.... Yea, I realize Uniden will install the part for an owner if that's what the owner wants, but I wouldn't classify it as a "recall.". To be clear, I I doubt Uniden will initiate a repair campaign to perform any other potential revision to the design.

Another potential solution would be to move it away from your current location as it might be susceptible to electrical interference inside your home? Since this is the first SDS scanner introduced to us, it might not behave as previous models. Possible the electrical system is affecting the scanner? This could explain why some are having issues more prominent than others.

Wrong again it has a power supply we proved in electronics school a ps along with other things can and will cause vibrations.
The mains power supply are external. It's only a DC 12v to the scanner and no transformer or switch power supply are inside the scanner.

Why would I sell the scanner if I really like it. I just want the HUM noise fixed like the rest of the Uniden scanner line that does not have this issue.

Like I said in the past the rest of the Uniden scanner line does not have this issue and never did. The only other scanner that had a similar issue is the BCD536HP radio with a hissing and pulsing noise.

Two weeks ago I heard a pop sound and the hum cane back. The first unit did that and I ordered that part I put that in and the hum still there. They replaced the unit send me a new one and now it’s humming and popping and I don’t know what to do. I hope they come up with something. If no fix I may sell it since it gunning and it. In custom search when hum is there it slows the search scan slow I have to turn off unit back on no hum than search scan scans run normal.

This makes me wonder about the homes electrical system or outlet you're using since it happens on two separate scanners?

I don’t know. I am using a battery back up supply case power goes out.... I don’t know if wiring is messed up after a major hurricane hit my area I did get a lot of water come in the walls. Than again I have 3 battery back ups 1st for scanner and charge my phone and have my par800 hooked up to it. 2nd for tv and wireless router 3rd for computer and tv. Each one is not hooked up in same outlet they are on different outlets. I do t have any problems with the 2nd & 3rd power back ups

Wrong again most things in the scanner runs at 3 volts and 5 volts so you have a 12 volt drop down ps in the scanner if I was to bet.

The conversion from 12v to 3v or 5v is done with a DC-DC converter chip. Nothing mechanical to cause a hum.
