Seattle System going Digital?

hi everybody, I took a break from scanning some of the Dmr systems around Seatac this week to listen to some of the SPD simulcast off KCERS. Some of the wildcard TGS that were coming up on the scanner said they were digital and sounded encrypted, but the DB says that system is supposed to be an analogue only Smartzone.

anyone know if the SPD systems being replaced with a P25 trunk system?

Their system has the capability of digital talkgroups and be encrypted. You were probably hearing a SWAT channel, a Vice channel, investigation channel.

On the DB they have several listed as digital encrypted

PSERN is currently under construction and will be a P25 Phase II system. It is scheduled for completion in 2022, per their website.

and Seattle has a 5 site P25 Phase I limited capacity system that is a backup system to the analog.
