I dont know if you've been to the Air Museum on base or not but that is actually probably the best spot. No view of the field but it's much closer to the aprch end of RWY19. Only open on weekends though.

Do you think you could sit out there with your scanner, and not alarm anyone?

Hmmm, not sure. I dont think it would be a problem but just to be sure you could email them and ask. (www.selfridgeairmuseum.org) They do have a mini "tower" in the middle of the museum that plays the Tower Freq, so they may point that out as a reason to not need it, even tho we all know you need way more than just the tower freq :) I've never seen anyone ever get bothered for anything while actually within the museum boundries but I've seen security yell at plenty of people on or just outside the base.

Having just read this whole thread, I was wondering if the moderators mind if people actually posted the frequencies they are listening to, not just talk about all the good things they are hearing?

I actually meant watching, not listening.
I made this list in OpenOffice...It's in .xls format so it should open if you have a spreadsheet viewer. Not sure how complete it is but it should have most.

And just to add another spotting location to the list... Metro Beach is a pretty nice spot for watching planes approaching rwy1 and especially for planes doing TNGs in the pattern. They flight right over while turning and moving with a good clip- would be a great spot for photos and listening.
