Looked around and couldn't find much on this. Tried to install the latest BCDx36HP 2_00_10 Sentinel on my brand new desktop computer and ran into a glitch. On installation a popup window says it needs .NET framework version 2.0. My OS is Windows 10 Home (x64) Version 1803 (build 17134.472) and has .NET Framework 4.7.2. Sentinel refuses to install even as administrator. From what I can research I cannot install an older version of .NET Framework. Any ideas?

BTW, I have a laptop with a fully functional Sentinel, so it's only puzzling right now.

.NET 4.7.2 covers everything in .NET 2.0. Are you sure you have a good install of the framework?

.Net Frameworks versions are designed to co-exist. You should have .Net 2.0 installed already if you didn't uninstall it.

What is the exact error message you receive and at what point in the installation or run process do you see an error?

From what I can research I cannot install an older version of .NET Framework.
Not true

I checked the registry key and it confirms .NET Framework 4.7.2 and I didn't uninstall anything on this new computer.

Seems unusual the most recent version wouldn't encompass anything in previous ones. Thanks for the link, though, I'll investigate further.

Backwards compatibility doesn't necessarily mean it's backward compatible that many versions behind. Items do get deprecated or modified.

.NET has never worked like other software with respect to versioning and updates. Version 4 does not encompass earlier versions. It might as well be a different program.

Just so it's posted in here, this is the information we give customers with this issue:
  1. Open the RUN box by pressing the Windows Key + the letter "R" on the keyboard at the same time then type appwiz.cpl then click ok
  2. It will open the Programs and Features then click Turn on and off the Features on the left pane
  3. Check the .Net Framework and it will download the files for it
  4. Reboot the computer
  5. Try again to install the app
I'm not sure why some people have this issue, but I have never seen an instance where that did not fix it.

I don't see ".Net Framework" or "Microsoft .Net Framework". Screenshot shows what I see. All Frameworks 4.5 and 4.6
I have 2.0 installed and enabled on my machine.

Below seems to work. It's from the link Install the .NET Framework 3.5 on Windows 10, Windows 8.1, and Windows 8
  1. Press the Windows key Windows
    IC721376.jpeg
on your keyboard, type "Windows Features", and press Enter. The Turn Windows features on or off dialog box appears.
  2. Select the .NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0) check box, select OK, and reboot your computer if prompted.

Direct from Microsoft website:

Enable the .NET Framework 3.5 in Control Panel
Press the Windows key Windows on your keyboard, type "Windows Features", and press Enter. The Turn Windows features on or off dialog box appears.
Select the .NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0) check box, select OK, and reboot your computer if prompted.

You didn't click "Turn Windows features on or off". It takes you to the same place.

It's an extra step and some might not see the button. Also it could be confusing as the initial list doesn't show Framework 2.0 or 3.5.

They are all simple directions. If followed, they will lead you to the same result.
