The low band frequency is in place for their Junior Firefighters. The JFFs still have the old Minitor IIs or IIIs (can't remember which model). The regular FFs have Minitor IVs which are on the UHF system.
I think 33.94 is the county fire freq. with different PLs. I've heard Lost Acres (granby) FD dispatch on 33.94.
Usually Sims FD will tone out on both the low band the UHF freqs at the same time (muli-cast, not sure of the term). Then I think they tone out again on the UHF freq. on a more distant repeater (the signal is weaker the second time around for me). The main operations also take place on the UHF freq. When I listen to the low band freq, I can only hear their dispatcher, but not the field units.
Also, if Simsbury PD tones out for FD, they'll initially put it out on the UHF freq, and the FD will re-dispatch on both low and UHF freqs. with truck assignments and details.
