If anyone is worried how simulcast will affect them, just wait and see if your existing scanner works OK at your location before even thinking about making any changes such as directional antennas.
This makes perfect sense as there's no point in solving a problem you don't have. As I said in an earlier post, there are simply too many variables in monitoring scanners to recommend a ones-size-fits-all solution. Anyway, I think there's been a general "simulcast hysteria" on this forum that leads newer users to believe their non-SDS scanners are now only good for door stops. While that may very well be true, give your digital scanner a chance. You just may avoid an expensive purchase you didn't need to make.
