I belive they are a private communications company. They are also in Goldsboro and I'm sure many other places. I have monitored and there are alot of companys on, IE: construction, electrictions ,Etc.........

Skitronics is an SMR ... a company offering radio communications service to business and individuals, as well as public safety. The SMR maintains the frequency licenses and radio infrastructure, and usually the radio equipment being used by the subscriber.
In turn, the SMR sets up a communications plan ... radio features, signal coverage, etc ... that fits the needs of the subscriber.
Skitronics is licensed for conventional and trunked frequencies in the UHF, 800 and 900 transportation bands. I believe they may be the largest SMR currently in the Carolinas.
There had been plans by Skitronics and ARINC (the airline communications folks) to form a joint-venture, based on the iDEN signal format. The service was to be introduced in the eastern N.C. area. One of the touted advantages over Nextel would have been the pricing structure for the service, with unit-to-unit and group calling both being flat-fee costs.

One additional note: every 800Mhz Skitronics system I have come across (at least in central NC) is M/A Com EDACS....just wanted to throw that in there....
