SLC Public Safety vs UCA? Will they be combined?

I haven't seen anything so far. There wasn't anything in the 24-25 budget that was approved that would indicate they are switching. That being said they already have interopibility and this will likely be something in order to maintain that but funded by UCAN not the city. i will talk with contact that I know in the city and see if I can get any details.

Yes, all of the Salt Lake City system is being moved into UCA. The radios are already updated, the city repeater sites have already been ugraded and assimilated into the system. Salt Lake is expecting the cut over to begin in November. The majority of the radios that SLC had were already capable of working on the new system, so it wasn't much of a cost to join. Also, the big hang up for years had been that the UCAN/UCA business model charged by the radio on the system which was cost prohibitive to an entity as large as SLC. The new system is funded at the State level and then the fees are distributed in a better way to the actual agencies. So it finally made sense for SLC to join in with everyone else.
