• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

As it is extremely challenging to find replacement 9 inch XG-100P antennas, I was wondering if anyone few of an adapter that would allow a non-Harris antenna to be mated to the XG-100P?

I was contemplating an APX8000 antenna, but I have yet to find an adapter, if one exists.

I have a BNC-F to SMA-M adapter that fits without modification. You can also order an antenna from Hascall-Denke or Tait that will fit without mod.

A little light sanding should allow a Signalstick to work too.

There's a fella I found on the facebook Harris groups who makes a polymer version of what kd9wnr mentioned above. I've purchased two of his adapters for my XG100P radios and used them to attach shorter but very well performing VHF BNC Laird antennas, which pull my P25 system in perfectly while providing a less intrusive form factor than that 9" factory antenna.

I don't believe he has an SMA to SMA version but he's a cool guy I bet he'd make one for you. If interested PM me and I'll try to help get you guys in touch.

That said I have the factory 9" antenna sitting in a drawer if you want it.

Centric RF and L-Com are also very good suppliers for hard to find SMA adapters.
