Small school district trying to hook up a replaced CPI LE10 to a CPI DTP1 connected to motorola station for our buses.

Hello,

I am the tech for a small school district. We had some construction work done and the workers threw out our LE10 extension. I have purchased a replacement, but I dont know the wiring to terminal board 1. We have a very simple setup. Nothing more than speak and listen so our secretary can work with the bus drivers on their routes. The connection from the CPI DTP1 to the LE10 is just a basic rj-11 but I am unsure of where to terminate the 4 wires to on the LE10 terminal block. If you happen to have a photo of your setup it would sure help me out. School started today here in MN so I am catching a bit of pressure from administration to get it working.

I have included photos of the internal terminal connection point inside the le10 and for reference the dtp1 that is wired to our motorola station. The LE10 has power provided by a hardwired wall wart.

Also, if budget is the issue pick up an Telex IP-223 although finding a C-2002 handset intact is a bit harder. The new IP-224/IP-3002 is a better easier install.

A LE10 does not mate with a DTP1 panel. DTP1 is a DC termination panel and would connect to a DR10 DC remote. Both of those have RJ-11 ports to where standard telephone cables would connect the two.

You have a LE10 which is a local remote and is designed to connect straight to the radio, no termination panel needed. Minimum to connect a LE10 is 12VDC, TX audio, RX audio, PTT, and all ground returns. The manual for this remote is still available on the CPI website.

Thanks Ramal121 and Firebuff880. I was trying to go from memory but they looked the same and I didnt know any better so I picked up the le10 off ebay. At least I have a nice new looking replacement housing I can use in the future for when the secretary knocks it off the desk..... I would also like to thank suppermanrepairs.com of Waxahachie, TX for responding to my tech email to cpicommunications. He also pointed out the need for a DR10 to work with the DTP1-c. Thanks Shane. Its off to ebay in hopes of finding something that will work out for us.

I would recommend getting away from DC remotes. Look for a tone remote and term panel, or the Telex or ETC that Firebuff mentioned.

You could also hook up the LE10 to your existing radio, but you would need to run a cable with the correct amount of wires.
