Pike county(northeast PA) is under a winter storm watch. We are expecting 3-6 inches of snow and maybe sleet and ice acclumations??. I have my portable scanner charging later to be ready for storm listening activities tommorow. Tomorrow and Monday will be good to see if i can still pick up any PENNDOT comms on the lowband channels. I hope everyone who is in the path of this storm stays safe and keep your ears on the police scanner!!!
take care and good night

I keep my local school district programmed in. There's a lot of comms between dispatch and the busdrivers about winter road conditions.

Also if your local gas station has a plow service, plug them in, also invaluable comms about when they'll plow me out. ;)

Unfortunately the main road out of my woods is considered a state highway so it's PENNDOT and silent.

If you can chum up ("close call", even) with your township "highway" trucks, they'll be willing to share, I'm sure.

I'm always amazed that my road is snow for a day or more and the town roads are high and dry.

New Freqs Confirmed

Was in Wyoming/Susquehanna counties today during the storm:

Confirmed Tuscora twp snow plows 155.820 pl 218.1 (repeater)
Harford Fire 151.0625 pl 167.9 (repeater)

Also heard 154.025 pl 131.8 (repeater) Not sure who I was listening to. FCC data suggests either Mansfield University or Clark Summit State Hospital. Any help with this would be appreciated ;-)

Does Mansfield use that same PL? I doubt it was Mansfield, unless Bob was in the news chopper, as it is approx a 60 miles from his other points, and they only have a 30W Xmitter. Clarks Summit is only 11 miles, so more likely. However, I don't have any PL info for the state hospital.

Anyone local will have already heard this but several of our local TV towers crashed ot the ground this morning. WNEP, WVIA droped down on the transmission building (WNEP was an 800-ft tower). As of this afternoon the Fox 56 tower had lost several guy wires and was in danger of falling....as of a few mins ago Fox dropped off the air so that tower may be gone also. The EMA has been warning everyone all afternoon that the 911 tower was also in danger. To make it even more fun I guess one of the towers dropped on some power lines and wiped out power for lots of homes in the Mountaintop area.

No worries...it's only supposed to get very cold tonight and have 30MPH winds w/50MPH gusts... Hardhats in place...

PS This is all Luzerne Co (Penobscot Mountain)
