This thread got quiet real quick. Any more input from owners?
I haven't used mine in a few weeks. With the interface being half-assed in certain ways and no need for P2 yet, I haven't wanted to fuss with it. No CC decode and the incredibly stupid method to obtain P25 conventional radio IDs is what really pisses me off about the scanner.

Me, personally, in hindsight would have passed on these Unidens and waited to see what Whistler can produce with P2 support and a keypad. Since now I know they're reproducing the 800 I may have went with that instead.

That's good news - if you listen from a static location. I keep hoping someone reports results while driveing around Oakland with a 436.

I have a PSR 800 with a Diamond RH3 mico-antenna. Sitting on my desk, everything is fine about 85% of the time - but mobile, or the other 15% of the time, it's simulcast gibberish.

Have my 436 for about 2 Weeks now.
Pick it up in Sunnyvale and drove back to Sonoma county with zip code enabled.
I had looked up a few Zip codes before I left. and I had my 396xt programmed running next to it.Wow at first I was blown away.
Got Home and tried to set up the Fav List and added some close Call Hits I had stored from my 396xt.It would not Scan them.
After a few Hours and almost going Mad and question myself why did I get this............
They Software list it as Custom 1. Guess what as soon I enabled Custom 1 they where all Showing up.
Then when I got a close call hit I had the hardest time resuming regular Scanning. Yes I saw F + System to Scan and thought it would always include it. Guess what that was the way to resume regular Scanning. After some more small user error I love it.
Love it I can use the cigarette adapter to plug it in my Car and I can use the same set of Battery's for a entire Week.
Can't pick up east Bay from here but Marin Mera comes in as good as my 396xt and 386t.
Driving through San Francisco on the way home came in great too.

Uniden 436 & 536 at Oakland Ham Radio Outlet Today

I just returned today (Friday) from HRO in Oakland, got there just before they closed, they have a new shipment of Uniden 436 and 536 today. They have it programmed to Oakland Simulcast using the zip code entry. I checked it out and the system was coming in very clear for about 95% of the time. They said that they are in a brick bldg, so I took the 436 over near the large window and it sounded perfect.
This is a lot better than on my 396 with the choppy ragged audio. Need to seriously think about purchasing one.

Okay, I purchased the 436 from Oakland HRO and have been testing it out all weekend for Oakland P25 simulcast. The audio has been receiving almost perfect about 95% of the time inside a wood framed building in Oakland. During the remaining 5% percent, the audio is a little choppy but way better than the 396's choppiness. I had to lower the squelch to about 2 to receive more talk. I noticed when compared with the 396 the 436 was not picking up what the 396 was receiving. Perhaps a little adjustment on the Threshold levels needed when compared with the 396's choppy receives. After all like all of us did we adjusted the 396s Threshold levels quite a bit. When driving around in Oakland, the audio was perfect.
