So far I've been able to add several dozen frequencies into different banks, rename the banks, and save the file as an '.rsf' and '.csv' formatted file.

I've connected the R30 to my computer (using a generic micro USB cable) but the R30 is not visible to the software or on my computer. It is charging, but not showing as a device or drive.

I powered off the R30, removed the SD card, inserted into a card reader and copied the files directly to the card. Then reinserted the card into the radio. The radio sees the card (30 some odd Gig of memory available). However, none of the card functions allow me to import either the .rsf or .csv from the card.

The R30 USB cable that came with the radio is in the car (I used it to charge the radio while I was driving home with it Saturday).

Got an early morning so I'm not going to mess with it anymore tonight.

EDIT: I had device manager open and when I unplugged the R30, the only comm port open (COM4) closed.

For the PC to recognize the micro SD - Change setting in the R30 : MENU>Function>USB Connect>SD Card Mode .

Now that I have the computer and R30 seeing each other, I've gotten quite a bit accomplished.

Using the RR import, I've loaded numerous local conventional frequencies and saved the file to both the computer and SD card.

Then using the import function on the R30 gotten the file into the R30 memory.

So far, I am impressed with how this is working.

One thing I am finding a bit frustrating is I cannot use my mouse wheel to scroll up or down a page. I have to place the pointer on and use the scroll bars and those are very touchy. I often go right past what I am trying to get to.

I need to check what I did with the .csv save feature. The file is rather large and when tried to use the file, it gave me an me an error. Once I got the .rsf file into the R30 memory and the used the Software to again save the .csv file, the size became a great deal smaller.

Next to learn how to set specific groups to be scanned and other to be skipped.

Getting there.

“Next to learn how to set specific groups to be scanned and other to be skipped.”

Menu-Scan-Group Link. Press “Enter” on the highlighted group you want to scan. You’ll see a check mark in the box appear. To remove the group from scanning just hit enter to remove the ✅

Do you remember the error? Also note that there are 100 groups with a maximum of 100 channels per group but the R30 can only store a total of 2000 channels.

Gommert, honestly, I don't but I am sure I can duplicate it. Basically I am pretty sure it related to somehow the .csv file came in over 400KB. I had only used like five groups and maybe 400 hundred channels. My second attempt and the one that works is only 44KB.

So something I did somewhere exceeded some value for the file. At least that is my theory.

EDIT: Here are the first two lines of the file that failed and the file that works.

Failed file:
1,0,"","","","","","","","","","",""
1,1,"","","","","","","","","","",""

Working file:
>1 Group No,Group Name,CH No,Name,Frequency,Dup,Offset,TS,Mode,RF Gain,SKIP,TONE,TSQL Frequency,DTCS Code,DTCS Polarity,VSC,DV SQL,DV CSQL Code,P25 SQL,P25 NAC,dPMR SQL,dPMR Common ID,dPMR CC,dPMR Scrambler,dPMR Scrambler Key,NXDN SQL,NXDN RAN,NXDN Encryption,NXDN Encryption Key,DCR SQL,DCR UC,DCR Encryption,DCR Encryption Key,Position,Latitude,Longitude
>2 01,York/JCC Conv,0,PoquosonFire,0154.34000,Off,,kHz,FM,,Off,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

FWIW I’m pretty sure that the R30 will manipulate the file after it’s been imported. I was shown a screen that indicated there were errors and the R30 fixed them. I had to re-start the radio and all worked great! I don’t know if it might be somehow related, but thought I would throw it out there.

I started ARC30 today and was advised there was an update available. I went through the process to update to V. 0.90, 2, Beta. Every attempt to access the SD card is meant with “Runtime error 68: Device unavailable.
I sent an email to Gommert

Does he have to send you the link to the beta? This is great news, ordered today, hoping I can get the beta, using my Excel spreadsheet is better than nothing but getting old.

After payment (via PayPal) I got a separate web page giving me the download URL. Might want to check your email/spam folders. I wonder if yesterday’s beta is still available if Gommert was able to duplicate the issue I had. This morning he sent me a message indicating he would check the problem out later today. Could be he’s working on a solution. Could be I’m wrong!

Glad you found it. Please let me know if it works for you as my copy doesn’t work for me.

If you are still having trouble running the software, try downloading it again. The link I received looks like it doesn't change, even if the software version does. Try uninstalling the ARC30 software using Add/Remove programs in the control panel. Check program files (x86) and look in the butel folder. delete arc30 if it's there. Then install v .90 build 3 beta

Thank you for your help. I did in fact have an issue that Gommert was able to duplicate. Beta 3 is the repaired version.

Hi John, working perfectly here in Beta 3 on both IC-R30's. Makes programming the IC-R30 faster than an Dutch Olympic speed skater. Thanks again to Butel/Gommert for this and the upcoming IC-R8600 software. Sounds like yours is working now too, happy programming.
