• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Purchased a new NX radio from a local dealer here in the US last week, ordered the KPG D1 when I purchased the radio. They had the radio in stock.
Ordering person was out of the office but was to put in orders yesterday.
How long should it take to for the dealer to get the software and license? Does it come electronically to them via email or secure file service or a hard copy delivered to the dealer to hand deliver to me?

Thanks for the info!

Lol, i have been waiting 5 weeks now since the oracle update.
If dealers keep them in stock usually next day, if they order it as needed, takes a few work days.

Wow I really hope it doesn't take 5 weeks. The nice employee that took my money said that typically their hardware orders were running about a week but didn't know about software.

I have twice ordered software license keys for KPG-D1N and both times it has taken the deal about 6 weeks from order to receive the license from the factory... he then has to provide me a copy of the software. I've inquired about the fact that I hold a license, shouldn't I have direct access to download it...particularly for version updates when receiving a new radio with newer firmware and he has been unsuccessful in betting Kenwood to provide me with direct access.

Ouch. That's disappointing to hear that it took so long for you to receive it.
per our wide band ORDER FORM.

As for the normal software keys, if the dealer does not stock it, then yes, it will take several business days.
SOME dealers have learned to order multiple keys to have on hand to prevent such short falls.
HOWEVER, it is at the discretions of the dealer to invest the money for such.
I am waiting on my batch to come in for my customers. Just have to be what it is for me.

I didn't order the wideband license. Should be just a regular software key. I wouldn't need an account key or any feature keys.

Should've quoted but it was meant for the reply taking 6 weeks for the levels.

July 1st was black eye. Japan has boots on the ground trying to correct the mistakes, things are getting out, but the burden is processing
and logistics processing.
Heck I just got doubled billed for my orders yesterday. Hang tight. They are coming.
Don't loose hope on your dealer. We are all on the same boat of waiting.

I don't mind waiting a little while. I'd be happy with the dealer doing the initial programming, but my programming preferences are pretty particular and annoying for someone to have to put in from scratch. I don't want to put them through that.
