I've been reading some threads on SDR software support platforms crashing and such because of improper or corrupted updates. So seemingly an SDR or dongle or whatever can stand alone without any type of software or firmware update unlike the new mega bucks super scanners but the software support platforms still need ongoing updates? And if that's the case without these updates how would that eventually affect the long term performance of the SDR/dongle itself?
