Software upgrades

Greeting All,
Radio Shack Pro 163 and 164 (Analog), Radio Shack Pro 96 and 2096 (Digital),
Police Scanner has many upgrades,
Does anyone know what they do from receiver to another,
And which one or better and which ones should be avoided...

Reading the the feedback on Eham.
I think I will not upgrade my recievers at this time.
