BCD396XT/BCD996XT: Software ??? Which to use

I might be getting a used bcd996xt but I need what software? I have a 396xt using freescan and 2 bcd536hp's using sentinel so I was wondering if I can use either of them to program the 996 using the same favorites lists etc so I don't tp have to make new Fl's.

Freescan will work just fine. I believe you can use the same programming file as your 396xt but don't quote me on it.

Good deal. I guess the 996P2, 996T, & 996XT used the freescan then.

The programming data for the 396XT and 996XT are the same - they are interchangeable. I believe that this programming is also "forward compatible" with the 996P2 and 325P2.

Obviously and P25 Phase II programming created for the 996P2/325P2 won't be "backwards compatible" for the XT scanners for successful reception.
