If anyone has a Sony ICF-7600GR, I have a question about the external antenna jack. I got confused when I read in the manual
"•Do not connect external antennas other than those recommended to the AM EXT ANT jack. This jack outputs DC voltage for antenna power supply." ( Of course they only recommend the Sony antennae.)
So, is there anything special about the associated plug?

I saw references to this antenna but no mention of the plug type, and those postings were years old.

Thanks,

I have an ICF-7600GR and AN-LP1 antenna. When connected the radio on/off switch controls the antenna on/off function but the antenna batteries need to be installed so I think it is just a control function, not the power supply to the antenna. The jack works just fine with other passive wire antennas. I believe connecting an antenna to the jack also disables the radio whip and internal ferrite core.

I have an ICF-7600GR and seem to recall the external antenna jack was for the AM broadcast band only 535 - 1705 Khz. I use the roll up one that came with the radio clipped to the whip antenna and pick up Radio New Zealand on 5945 Khz at night pretty well here on the west coast of the USA.
