As of this morning, both E-Com and South Com have merged into their new facility at 3700 W. 183rd St. in Hazel Crest and they're now known as Southland Communications Center. From the brief time I've been listening to fire, dispatch is being called "Southland" and a new radio ID of 5001507. The pages are going out over radio ID 5775892. Companies are performing radio checks. Activity has been heard across the Starcom South-Cook site (5-002) on talk group 25322.

"The Southland Communications Center (SCC) is a consolidated 9-1-1 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) and emergency dispatch center serving multiple communities in the Cook and Will County region of Illinois, including Homewood, Matteson, Park Forest, and South Holland. The consolidated center merges E-COM and SouthCom to provide consolidated police, fire, and emergency medical services (EMS) dispatch, enhancing technology and operational efficiency."

Is Southland staying on the same frequencies that ECOMM and South Com used for the fire sides?

Talk group(s)? So far, I've only heard fire traffic on talk group 25322. I'm seeing encrypted traffic on 25324. I don't monitor the analog side, but they have traffic repeating VHF/fire paging via a patch (radio ID 5775891).

I do know that there is a talk channel and a separate dispatch channel for the fire dispatch. I just do not know what the frequencies are for either.

Check the database under Consolidated Dispatch Centers. Others have mapped this out over the years.

The new Southland Dispatch went into effect today and there is nothing on any of the sites showing the information yet. That's why I asking.
All we have been told is use channel 1 to hear the dispatch and Channel 2 to talk to dispatch.

I understand, since it just went in service, the database administrators have to get a chance to add it. Since I don't monitor the VHF analog side, I'll "assume" one or both of the current VHF analog channels are in use and being patched to the Starcom 800 talk group.

Are you involved with one of the departments?

No, that's only for the police side.
So, here's what I've found out so far:
Fire Ops 4 - 25322 Fire 800 (Southland Talk)
Fire Ops 5 - 25323 Southland Ops 1
Fire Admin 1 - 25324 Southland 800 Page

The " E-COM VHF " (151.43, 154.6575) will be redesignated as " Southland VHF"
The " Southcom VHF " (151.3315, 154.1825) will no longer be used.

That's not the current usage, that's what was documented before. As of this morning, Starcom is in use primarily on the talk groups I mentioned.

I hate to disagree but that is what is in use, I just got it from our radio guy. We do not use Starcom on the fire side that's only the police side.

Starcom is in use as of today. A couple units still on the VHF and are being patched. I'm compiling a list of radio ID's from the companies all morning.

Southland Dispatch is coming across Starcom South-Cook site 5-002 with radio ID's 5001500, 5001501, 5001502, 5001507. I couldn't log those if it was strictly on analog, which is why I said they have a VHF patch showing radio ID of 5775891 and the fire pages are also coming out on. My latest one I logged was Engine 51 (apparatus) of 5773907.

Based on the dispatched locations, both E-Com and SouthCom companies are being dispatched on talk group 25322 in Phase 2. Southland Dispatch is using radio ID's 50015xx series. I was able to document numerous radio ID's from various fire and EMS companies. The majority of operations are on Starcom, with a few still on their VHF radios and are patched to Starcom.

I did see the Consolidated Dispatch section was updated too in the database.

Some additional monitoring observations heard recently:

The companies are pressing the status buttons on the Mobile Data Computers instead of verbalizing and the Southland dispatcher will acknowledge over the air, with the exception if it's a mutual aid response and the voice traffic will be heard via the VHF patch. I've heard Lansing ambulance working with South Holland Engine on I 94 for an accident as an example. The Lansing ambulance was heard updating statuses throughout the incident.

This morning, a fire was reported in Riverdale and Southland Fire Dispatch was also toning out "auto-aid" companies via the VHF patch..Posen, Harvey etc. The dispatcher moved all traffic to the VHF patch including those companies on Starcom radios. I was observing radio ID's flipping between the Southland Dispatch console ID and the VHF patch as the dispatcher was transmitting.

Some companies are still on the VHF whether that's because they don't have Starcom radios installed yet, or they're operating on the wrong zone. Majority of the traffic is on Starcom...logged close to 75 radio ID's so far. I'm not familiar with how many radios are assigned to each company, so just logging as portable-1, portable 2 etc. until I can get some clarification.

Talk group 25323 was heard, previusly ID'd as E-Com Ops-1, can now be Southland Fire Ops-1.

I have confirmed the following FDs being dispatched on STARCOM21 TG 25322 by Southland Communications Center ("Southland"):

Country Club Hills (13s/14s)
East Hazel Crest (17s/18s)
Flossmoor (19s)
Glenwood (20s/21s)
Hazel Crest (27s)
Homewood (28s)
Matteson (51s/52s)
Park Forest (50s/150s)
Richton Park (53s/153s)
Riverdale (42s/142s?)
South Holland (43s/44s/143s/144s?)
Thornton (45s/4500s)

I may not have all the unit numbering series listed. Please advise If I'm missing any.

I'm now trying to confirm which PDs are dispatched by Southland on which TGs. I believe Southland dispatches PDs on TGs 25009, 25126 and 25132 (Central Dispatch also dispatches on the last two TGs).

I feel fairly confident that (at least) Matteson, Park Forest and Richton Park PD are dispatched by Southland on TG 25009.

I believe that Southland might be dispatching (at least) East Hazel Crest, Glenwood, Hazel Crest and Homewood PDs on TG 25132.

Not sure which PDs Southland dispatches on TG 25126.

Any and all information about which PDs are dispatched by Southland and Central Dispatch on TGs 25009, 25126 and 25132 would be greatly appreciated!
