Anyone else notice on the SGF/GC 800 that the Greene County Fire Dispatch and Springfield Fire Dispatch are no longer cross patched?

I pulled up UniTrunker to confirm. All Fire dispatches (for all Greene County departments and Springfield Fire) are being broadcasted on Greene County Fire Dispatch (TG 17264). They are using multi-select for voice traffic related to calls.. but it doesn't seem many are using (TG 1648). This is different than what they've done for the last several months to years.

DID you see my post about MOSWIN now using some of the GC system freqs? CHeck the freqs in Unitrunker.

"
MOSWIN Zone 4 starting Springfield?

We were in Springfield today and caught a brief glimpse of what I think is MOSWIN in their 800 MHz system.
On 859.9625 (one of their M Smartzone system freqs) I saw P25 data with a site NAC of 1C1 and sys ICE, with R=004 (I think zone 4) and S 01 - site 1. Will be interesting to watch. Next trip bring the computer and Pro96com! "

I did see your post... but I wasn't sure if it was related to my findings so I started a new thread. Last I heard, the timeline for Zone 4 MOSWIN was early 2021. I became really interested after seeing the Springfield 700 site go live.

I have noted some digital (and mostly encrypted) activity on the following talkgroups:
TG 40976 (unidentified)
TG 41104 (GCSO Organized Crime)
TG 41296 (unidentified)

Didn't really pay too much attention to it until I saw your post from yesterday. But since it's encrypted.. nothing we can do to identify those talkgroups except watch radio aiffs and guess. There's only been 1 radio that's been digital and in the clear. All other radios are encrypted.

I'll be honest.. my scanners have been tucked away in my closet for the last several years. Started getting back into the hobby after noticing several changes in our area. I don't currently own a digital scanner.. so my monitoring is limited.. but I do have UniTrunker and just started using DSD+ with an SDR to monitor some of the DMR activity in Greene Co.

Springfield 700 is in operations, are the talk groups your show in you post running off of Moswin?

WIth UNitrunker it would be worth seeing if the freq I heard as the P25 control channel 859.9625 still shows up in the analog site. Check the listings for the analog and see what freqs are "missing" and I bet they are in use in the new MOSWIN Zone 4 Site 1. I have not played with DSD+ but can it sit on the MOSWIN Control Channel and list the P25 freqs in use like Pro96COM connected to a digital radio?

859.9625 is not currently listed in the analog system. I don't have any previous data to compare the current list to other than the db.

Frequencies currently listed on the analog system in UniTrunker:
854.9875 (active)
855.4625 (active)
855.7375 (active)
856.2125 (active)
856.4375 (active)
856.7125 (active)
856.9625 (active)
857.2125 (active)
857.4375 (active)
857.7125 (active)
857.9625 (active)
858.2125 (active)
858.4375 (active)
858.7125 (not active, previously active, still listed)
858.9625 (not active, alternative CC)
859.2125 (not active, alternative CC)
859.4375 (Current CC)
859.7125 (active, CC)

As for DSD+.. I'll play around with it and see what I get. I'm not too familiar with DSD+.. especially for trunked systems... so any help you can provide is much appreciated! Do you recommend Pro96Com over UT? I've been trying to get OP25 set up.. but seem to be running into problems. I'm still tinkering with it.

I like Pro96com better than UT for ease of use!
I'd just stick it on the P25 cc above and let it run for a day!
WHen you expand all the tabs there is a wealth of info!

I don't currently own a digital scanner.. so my monitoring is limited.. but I do have UniTrunker and just started using DSD+ with an SDR to monitor some of the DMR activity in Greene Co.

In my opinion, for monitoring at home, a relatively inexpensive SDR stick (or two) is the way to go right now, vs buying a digital scanner. It's a little more of a science project to get the SDR working, and it's not easy to make it mobile unless you use it with a laptop. Given the proposed changes at some agencies, though, I'll cry a lot less when my $30 RTL-SDR goes deaf, than I probably would if I had a $500 Uniden that went deaf. :)

If you need the "turn the knob and go" capability, and especially portability, a digital scanner is probably still a better choice.

I saw later where you are trying to get OP25 running. If you have any questions, I might be able to help. I already knew how to drive Linux, and how to compile programs, so I didn't have *too* much trouble getting OP25 set up, but it still took a little work. I mostly followed this how-to article OP25 For Dummies – Or how to build a police scanner for $30 (Part 1) | John’s Tech Blog and it helped me with some of the details.

I'm pretty sure that's why I've hesitated so much to purchase a digital scanner. Man the Uniden SDS series looks fun though! I just can't justify spending that much money (including the upgrades) on a hobby that doesn't pay. I've ordered a second SDR.. and I picked up a Radio Shack Pro 2096 for cheap. So between all 3, my spare time will be spent in UniTrunker, Pro96com and hopefully OP25.

I would also consider broadcasting a stream after Zone 4 arrives if I have time.

Heard Motorola techs on the 700mhz Moswin site today. They popped up on a troop Q talkgroup 20266 (Information Technology). There were two technicians testing various sites, I heard one of them say he was at the eagle ridge location. I am not sure if they were getting things in order for the Springfield zone 4 site or not. They had to stop because the audio channel side was interrupting there testing.

They were also on the Freistatt and Granby sites as well. I believe they started up north towards Jeff City and worked their way down towards Springfield checking mobile and site repeaters. They did have 2 repeaters not playing nicely and they did stop so they could do a data dump without interference. They also had a few other bugs to work out and I believe it was more than 2 techs. They will resume next week. I believe it is related to the new zone 4 but I am only guessing.
