squealing tv noise / hurts ears

help , my tv has a squeal I can hear but my wife cant . I had the squeal in it when it was hooked up to the directv box but I unhooked the box for a few months and used the digital coversion box . no noise was noted . now I just hooked the directv box back up ( differant box ) and the squeal is back . the squeal is not a constant noise but its there more then not . it really hurts my ears . any ideals what is going on ?
