Another year, another thread! Please direct all StarCom21 discussions here for the year.
Troop 3 ISPERN/Chicago Priority talk group (9051) is being used for DUI/reckless driving notifications across all expressways/tollways. Oak Brook previously utilized the Tollway North/South talk groups for these. As of 1000 Hrs., Troop 3 Telecommunicators are now dispatching the Tollway. Oak Brook Telecommunications just signed off. "Chicago, 15-North and 15-South is now yours"..
Good idea with the move. I think it's safe to say that the District 2/5/15/Chicago listing of talk groups are no longer in use and those headings could be removed. I've been running all those talk groups in ID Scan for the past two years and can confidentially report they're not being used other than what's been confirmed.I have moved the former Troop 15 patrol, car-to-car and tac talkgroups to the Troop 3 subcategory in the Radio Reference database. Not even sure that these car-to-car and tac talkgroups are still in use. I've left some other talkgroups under the Troop 15 subcategory, not sure that these are still in use either. If you have any updates for these talkgroups, please advise or submit the information via the STARCOM21 submission link RadioReference Login .

I've caught a couple of exchanges today and yesterday on TG 9100 ("The Tollway Channel") between Troop 3 troopers working incidents on the tollway and the tollway telecommunicators. I may move this TG to the Tollway subcategory and just make a note about this TG and its usage under the ISP Troop 3 subcategory.Good idea with the move. The Tollway talk group tact/car-to-car are encrypted and never program them. TGID 9100 (labeled as Tollway Statewide), was/has been in use for dignitary movement and might be listed under the ITHA heading since only maintenance vehicles have been using it and not troopers. TGID 2028 "was" used for Troop 15 probationary trooper radio training, but that probably won't be happening since they're a thing of the past now despite others swearing up and down this would never happen, and Oak Brook was never going to stop dispatching the Tollway patrols.
This is my current Troop 3 Sentinel programming:
3-A - 9005 3-B - 9006 3-North - 9002 3-Middle - 9007 3-SE - 9008 3-SW - 9013 3-Tollway North - 9098 3-Tollway South - 9099 3 Car-to-Car - 9067 3-ISPERN - 9051 3 (5-B) - 9014 (5 Car-to-Car) - 9068
That figures, I just edited it on Sunday morning and moved it to Tollway Maintenance Department and off Troop 3 Department...LOL! For the past 3 years that I've had it in ID Scan and under Troop 3, the only traffic I heard was between Maintenance units on details blocking ramps, dignitary movement etc. Last week they were using it for the Trooper's funeral presession down the toll road. Can't remember ever seeing a trooper's RID on there or hearing radio traffic, but will re add it in and hear what I hear too.I've caught a couple of exchanges today and yesterday on TG 9100 ("The Tollway Channel") between Troop 3 troopers working incidents on the tollway and the tollway telecommunicators. TG 3139 was verbally-IDd as "Wheeling Fireground" on 1/1 at 9:32am. The Radio Reference database has been updated.Anyone Identified Wheelings FG, TG? or are they still using Red FG or basic NWCD FG?
Thank you much. Thats the one FG I was missing after hearing Wheeling on F2TG 3139 was verbally-IDd as "Wheeling Fireground" on 1/1 at 9:32am. The Radio Reference database has been updated.
FWIW, unidentified TG 3138 has also been affiliated by at least one Wheeling FD RID in the last month or so.
FWIW, I heard a reference to a "3-South" channel specifically earlier this afternoon. So, it's definitely possible that it's no longer called "3-Southeast".3-82 asked about a detail channel for tonight and was told to switch to DC-D. After some searching, 3-82 replied that he couldn't find that channel, and 3-56 mentioned that was the "old District-Chicago assignments, and to switch to Troop 3-South (TGID 9008). I previously mentioned that that talk group was Southeast, and apparently it isn't or was changed in the past year?
I can't remember anyone saying "I'm 10-41, switching to Southeast" either. It's usually South, just sometimes referred to as Southeast Sector by a couple TC"s at Troop 3.FWIW, I heard a reference to a "3-South" channel specifically earlier this afternoon. So, it's definitely possible that it's no longer called "3-Southeast".
The database has been updated, thanks! It appears the Troop 3 troopers are showing the "new/updated" channel assignments on their radios, while the Troop 3-Chicago telecommunicators are still showing the "old" DC (District-Chicago) designations on the consoles.

I previously mentioned that that talk group was Southeast, and apparently it isn't or was changed in the past year? The rest of them noted in the database are correct based on some of the references heard over the past couple weeks. Troopers are going 10-41 and switching to various channels which match up with what we have.
I still haven't heard any events between ISP and Tollways on TGID 9100 (Tollway-Statewide), just a car-to-car between maintenance vehicles previously, and can't say the "old" encrypted talk groups are still in use. I haven't heard any mention of "switch to xxxx and talk to Maintenance" or anything along those lines so it would be a safe bet they're no longer in use.
On the Tollway Maintenance talk groups, the Traffic Center was looking to speak to ITHA 911 on a couple of occasions and was on TGID 2002. Oak Brook advised he was Tollway-North and to switch to Tollway-South (TGID 2007) as has been reported previously and can be updated too.
3-A , 3-B, 3-North, 3-Middle, 3-South, 3-Southwest, 3 Tollway-North, 3 Tollway-South, 3 Car-to-Car, 3 ISPERN/Chicago Priority and SW Car-to-Car (used sporadically during I-80 incidents if everyone has that car-to-car in their radios). All have been self-identified in the past couple of weeks.
Sounds like they're toning out companies that are dispatched by Glenview's North facility (Highland Park, Lake Bluff, and Lake Forest FDs).Hearing Glenview Dispatch Fire Department tone outs on TG 33456
In following the pattern of Lake County Fire talkgroups on the Radio Reference SC21 database page, it appears that TG 33456 might be called Fire Dispatch 5. If this is correct, TG 33457 might be Fire Ops 51, TG 33458 might be Fire Ops 52 and TG 33459 might be Fire Ops 53.Sounds like they're toning out companies that are dispatched by Glenview's North facility (Highland Park, Lake Bluff, and Lake Forest FDs).
