I am in Charlottesville and I am using a GRE PSR-500 and the Win500 software to program it. I am trying to figure out exactly what settings to use to get my scanner to track STARS properly.

Here's what I have gathered based on other posts
1. I need to turn on Multi-site Mode to "Roam" correct?
2. Sounds like I may need to do something with the thresholds hi and low.
3. I guess I need to be scanning the Fork Mountain tower correct?

BTW, I live in Albemarle County just off I-64. (If that helps any) I know that the question may have been answered before, I but I could really use some help! I'm just trying to join in the fun of listening to the talk groups!

Thanks!

Multi-site "roam" is best for travelling. At home, you might want to use "stat". I would definitely tune Fork Mtn, Louisa and Cumberland for now. Hopefully more sites in your area as development continues. As for thresholds, the default settings are pretty good. I often raise my lower threshold setting to 80 or 85, but 95 is good for the high one.

I can't tell how far in the process you have gotten successfully. Are you hearing anything at all on STARS? If not, the first thing to do is to make sure you can hear the Fork Mtn. or any other control channels when in the conventional mode.

Yeah, Fork Mtn is pretty strong around town. I have a '396 so I can't be much help to you. Louisa comes in pretty good from about Zion Crossroads east.
