Just wondering if there any new rules regarding the bringing and possible use of a scanner to the fair this year.

From the state fair website, doesn’t look like they ban scanners, so looks like your good to go.

I’m here now and scanning. Nothing heard on the 3 state fair TGs for 2.5 hours. Has something changed in the TG configuration?

Many thanks, stmills! I had been checking the Ramsey pools and METAC's, not thinking to check STAC's. Looks like Ramsey simulcast is carrying them consistently, with occasional activity on Mpls CC as well. Still nothing on State Fair TGs. I wonder why?

STac 9-12 are set to prefer Ramsey site during the Fair this year. Using the STacs means officers radios do not need to be reprogrammed to work at the Fair and not having the patch on the State Fair talkgroups frees up system resources and is not needed since all radios should have STacs.

That makes a lot of sense. I've always wondered how visiting officers hop on the state fair pd channels.
