I wonder if this system will be for KSP only or if it will include other agencies?

I suppose it's too early to tell.

Other agencies will be allowed on the system. The system will be under the control of KSP and run by them.
Counties will be allowed to join the system and add onto it with additional towers, very similar to how Indiana Safe-T is.
Most state agencies will switch to the system including KSP, and possibly KYEM. (No, DMARCS isn’t going away either)

Interesting, well if KSP does go encrypted, hopefully there will still be other agencies to monitor on the system that are unencrypted. Fingers crossed 🤞

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Northern Kentucky Regional Communications System (and a few other large systems) connected to this. They already have the talk groups and radio IDs numbered with the state-wide logic.

This also helps with build out, in areas that already have 7/800 systems all they need to do is connect them to the state core. They don't need to build a new system from the ground up in those areas.

Right now it will be standalone.... However the systems can be linked together using ISSI or Motorola Critical Connect and the way that Zone ID's are being worked out this is in mind.

From my understanding the sites are being installed right now and it's likely at least 7 have already been installed, so has anyone heard anything yet?

If Motorola is doing with this system as they have with many others I have followed they usually put a signal on the air just before or right after the applications have been submitted.

If I had to guess we should be seeing a filing for Farmersville (KEWS 39) and Inman-Clinton (KEWS 01_05) site's soon.

Updated filings as of Today. Orange again are the proposed sites, blue are licensed.

There was also a new tower in the RFP for Dixon. Would also expect a site in Pleasant Hill near Hopkinsville.

This has always been the case up here in the Great Lakes Region. The radio techs will turn on a site after FCC approval, so they can conduct site tuning, and range testing. I wouldn't be surprised if one or more of the sites are online at this time. I wonder which one is the prime site with the zone controller?

I am going to try to take a drive out that way this weekend to see what I can hear. The furthest tower is 5+ hours from me so I'll need to see how the trip works into my schedule.

I wonder which one is the prime site with the zone controller?
If I had to take a wild guess I would say the first two applications, but I really have no idea at this point.

One thing to remember about this system... The core has been in for well over a year, all consoles got upgraded when the new core went in as well. Essentially, they've had the M core system for over a year now and just hadn't put any trunking sites online yet...

Took a small trip out to 3 towers today. Madisonville, Sacramento, and Land Between the Lakes and as far as I could tell none of the towers had any 7/800 antennas only VHF and UHF. I checked DSD in the 700 and 800 range and also got nothing.

Very beautiful drive though 😎

I also took a drive (just got back home) to Sacramento, Madisonville and Tucker Ridge with the same findings, nothing heard on 700 or 800. I concur on the beautiful drive as well. It was a little over 500 miles for me. It was great seeing Sacramento, Kentucky being that I grew up in Sacramento, California.

I have been told that KSP has some talkgroups on the NKY system. I haven't heard them or noticed them. Have you caught anything?
