German Air Force A400M just did an Arlington National Cemetery flyover as DRAGO61.
A C-17 as DRAGO71 will follow.
128.0

DRAGO61 to 125.8 and returning to Dulles. There's also a DRAGO51 I'm hearing but not seeing ahead of it.

DRAGO61 advised they need to be #2 behind the C-54.

Odd in that Arlington website doesn't show any funerals for today..
Maybe website problems or rehearsal?

https://www.arlingtoncemetery.mil/Funerals/Funeral-Schedule/Daily-Funeral-Schedule

They're usually aren't any funeral on Sundays. Saturdays funeral are not common either.

Sprit of Freedom website shows the C-54 as "Static Display with the German Embassy celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Berlin Airlift" September 16-19 at the Udvar-Hazy. https://airandspace.si.edu/events/step-inside-history-berlin-airlift-fly

Currently
84-24015 OK ARNG tracking east across MD towards Aberdeen
10-72153 SD ARNG tracking east over WV panhandle.

All the VRC-40 C-2s are returning to Norfolk now.

Cool! Very interesting event... Many folks don't realize how important
that was in the early Cold War.. I'm sure many Berliners don't forget.

ITF prepping to embark two F-35Bs on board HMS Queen Elizabeth

The F-35 Patuxent River Integrated Test Force (ITF) is preparing to embark two F-35Bs on board the United Kingdom’s newest aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth for first of class flight trials (fixed wing) this fall.

Nearly 200 ITF personnel—active duty US and UK military, US Department of Defense (DOD) civilians as well as contractors from DOD and industry—will join the ship’s 1,500-person crew in making history when the two jets land on the British carrier.

The event will be the first time an F-35 has ever landed on a foreign vessel and it helps bring an end to the eight-year hiatus since a British aircraft carrier last operated a fast jet from its deck.

“It’ll be the return of fixed-wing maritime aviation to the UK,” Royal Navy Cmdr. Stephen Crockatt, UK team lead at the ITF, said.

“From there on, the UK F-35B Lightnings can partake in supporting the defense of our realm from both land and sea, wherever the UK government decides,” he added.

During two FOCFT (FW) phases, held back-to-back this fall, the team plans to perform a variety of flight maneuvers and deck operations to develop the F-35B operating envelope on Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) carriers. They will evaluate jet performance on over 200 test points during different weather and sea conditions as well as the aircraft’s integration with the ship.

A third FOCFT (FW) phase followed by operational testing is scheduled for 2019. Together, the tests will help the UK Ministry of Defence reach F-35B initial operating capability (maritime) in 2020.

Earlier this month, the 65,000-ton HMS Queen Elizabeth reached the United States for the planned three-month flight trials.

Don't suppose anyone has any idea what the MV22 flight over North Jersey and down the coast along the shore was today?

Probably potus related. They've been yapping all evening on 143.825 FM. NIGHT HAWK callsign. Potus is scheduled to stay in Bedminster this weekend. TFR in effect.

Maybe but these were definitely a normal squadron, not HMX1. POTUS was still down in Carolina at the time.

These guys fly into the area sometimes the day before a potus visit. I hear them do practice approaches, point out landmarks to new pilots, etc. It sounded like 2 ships yesterday but I've heard/seen as many as 5 or 6. Usually 2 white caps (CH-53K?) and 2 or 3 MV22. Did you happen to notice what color these Osprey were? That might give a better clue.

This was at least 3-4. Appeared to be standard USMC grey MV22's from the distance I was at. I'm aware of the precursor flights though, used to seeing the pre-POTUS flyovers around here since he started coming to weekend in Bedminster post-election.

Anybody know what the 'Alpha' denotes in the REACH flight callsigns? I've seen them for awhile. Hearing REACH ALPHA612 departing Norfolk now.
