I have been following the Spur flights up to Mocton but haven't gotten to listening to Gander yet.

SPURs are running a bit late, Gander advises WARBIRD that the SPURs wont be at the IP until 04:26Z so they are going to hold and wait.

03:52Z - SPURs checking on with Gander

Thanks guys I am listening but it is a bummer they fell of ADSB. Guess there aren't a lot of receivers up there lol. I generally only listen to ZNY so this is a treat to listen to.

Maybe forgot to close the hangar door and put out the lights :D
"What do you mean he is on the plane to Europe. Get him back now" :)
Assume a Satcom message?

Looks like RCH-165 direct Soto Cano today.. Humanitarian cargo is usually not too heavy.
A good Reserve unit day trip 4 hours each way down and back.. Be home for dinner.
MC165 (RCH165) Air Mobility Command Flight Tracking and History 22-Nov-2020 (KWRI-XPL / MHSC) - FlightAware

Looks like VINYL 22 into Japan this morning assume dragged someone with them.

Just to be anal retentive (sorry I can't help myself), while the airspace is in the Madrid FIR (LECM) it's delegated to and controlled by the Seville ACC (LECS). While some charts don't show the Seville sectors you can see them on the Eurocontrol charts. I have no idea why they do it this way ? It's similar to how the southern part of Ontario is in the Toronto FIR but controlled by Cleveland Center.

Interesting. From a Eurocontrol document published in 2019:

"The geographical scope of this document addresses the three Spain FIR(s): • FIR/UIR Madrid, • FIR/UIR Barcelona and • FIR/UIR Canary Islands. In turn, the Madrid FIR/UIR includes the airspace delegated to Seville, south of parallel 39° North. Within each FIR, the airspace in which the airways converge close to one or more airports is called Terminal Areas (TMA). In the Spanish airspace there are 12 TMAs."delgation.png

Here's another non-navigational chart showing the delegation, and a link to the document source:

For anyone interested here are the ATC comms from the WARBIRD 1 flight and AR with SPUR 72-73 last night. Starts with Gander Radio on 8891 with WARBIRD 1 crossing 40W and covers the flights through both Gander and Montreal Center's. It's kinda long at 23 minutes and nothing really remarkable but some might find it interesting.

Here's the rest of the flight all the way into Minot. Picks up about an hour after the handoff from the previous recording. A little more eventful, WARBIRD 2 becomes a stealth bomber when its transponder apparently fails and then declares an emergency on the descent. At that point with ZMP only the ATC side could be heard and I couldn't quite make out what the problem was. Sounded like she read back "a small br..f.. (?) issue". At 5:05 on the recording.
