I just heard some fighters on 339.725 but haven't caught any IDs yet. Might be the Devils.

Terry,

Are NJ F-16s still using their 140 MHz freqs? The DC ANG don't use them much at all.In last month or so I've only heard them use their 139-143 MHZ freqs once.

I would have to go back and check my logs - generally if the frequency is already programmed in the radio as an air/air or a regularly used one - I do not pay as much attention. If I see a known frequency active and the comms are normal - it does not attract my attention. With 5 radios monitoring air band - commerical and military 24/7 - my ears are tuned to the unusual comms more than the standard comms. Too many years monitoring HF without the squelch has a tendency to make you ignore things that are "background noise"

Terry,

Understand completely. I was intercept operator/transcriber for USAF & DOD for 37 years. The old ears get deadened after awhile.

Yeah been monitoring since I was 11 years old. First major aviation thing I monitored was the National Airlines hijacking back in 1972 at KPHL. Had borrowed an airband radio from a classmate - whose uncle just happened to be the Station Manager for National at Philadelphia. So my timing was good and things kind of took off from there. I guess after 53 years - the ears and the mind learn to only listen to the good stuff on the radios...(and the wife too) !!
